Kati took us on a scenic drive outside the city where we spent an hour touring the remarkable Godollon Palace, where Empress Elizabeth of Austria-Hungary (“Sisi”) spent a great deal of time. Kati’s knowledge of the history and significance of the palace was impressive, and it was very enjoyable to experience its many rooms with her at a leisurely pace. After a lovely lunch at an outdoor café, we proceeded to the Lazar horse farm where we had a tour of the facilities and were entertained by a very impressive show of horsemanship by the riders and horses there. During the drive Kati pointed out a number of other favorite restaurants and places to explore. She also talked about contemporary history and gave us fascinating insights into recent politics. She was very responsive when we were working on the details of our tour and open to requests.
