My name is Agi. I'm a licenced tour guide with 15 years of experience in tourism. There is an old story how I became a tour guide. I was about 3 years old when I said to a group of children on the playground: "If you want to listen to me, please follow me. " And they did. Since then a lot has happened but I still say the same. I like tour guiding so much that I do not consider it as a job. It is important for me that my guests do not only have a good time, but also learn something new, understand the whys, remember tastes, and feelings. A believe that three days after the trip you will not remember which monument was built by whom and when but you will remember the feeling you felt when you saw a particular monument. I like to be part of that feeling, because that you will remember for a long time. I also know that in todays world once you have the time, money, interest, etc. to go on a holiday it has to be memorable. I'm working on your holiday. I"m a professional licenced guide in Hungary since 2004 I have a BA in economy majoring in tourism and a BA in Jewish Liturgy Dohany street Great Synagogue - certified and licenced guide Grand Circle Program Director Training Program Cosmos Tour Director training program I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, except in the Parlament and in the State Opera House since only their local guides are allowed to guide.

This is one my favourite tours, since it is part of me, and my family. In this tour we have time to go to more details in both Hungarian and Jewish history both old and contemporary. I share more personal stories, my knowledge, I show you different sites, and through these, you will understand why this place is so special. Even if we can not do everything in chronological order at the end the picture will all come together. We try to find answers for different dilemmas during the Holocaust, we talk about controversial figures, memorials, urban legends, challenges of the community today and many many different things. My aim is to show that when we talk about Jewish life in Budapest we do not have to use past tense. There is a current, lively Jewish life with very interesting special Hungarian factors in it.
We start the tour in the Jewish quarter. - First we visit the Dohány street complex then continue with the newly restored Rumbach synagogue and we end the Jewish triangle at the Kazinczy synagogue. - After that we explore the area together, peek into different buildings old and new that were or are crucial parts of todays Jewish life. - We rest a bit by having coffee and cake and continue the tour outside of the Jewish quarter. Probably here comes the part that is less known. - We have a quick stop at the JCC, visit the Glass House, where Carl Lutz saved thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. (It is absolutely fine if these names are new to you) - We continue the tour with the controversial German Occupation Memorial, pass by the Liberty Square, and the Parlament and finish the tour by the powerful Shoe Memorial. Please note, that there is a dress code at the synagogues, shoulders and knees must be covered.
