In this 2.5-hour-long walk I will give you deep insight into the history of Budapest’s most attracting street, the UNESCO World Heritage site Andrássy Avenue. After taking a close look at the amazing St Stephen’s Basilica we will discover beautiful aristocracy palaces built in the 19th century, a number of important public institutions – buildings of former and current museums, theatres and universities –, historic apartments with gorgeous facades and a unique café related to the famous coffee house culture of Pest which evolved during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy’s era. I will tell you the story of the construction of this splendid avenue and that of the Millennial Underground with interesting stories about great Hungarians to whom we can thank today’s cityscape. You will hear about the life of the Budapest citizens living here in the past two centuries and we will also admire the ’musical pearls’ of this great avenue At the end of the tour I will sing you some of the most beautiful Hungarian folk songs!
