In this 6-hour-long tour we will discover Budapest through its splendid thermal baths and through one of its less known, charming districts enjoying panoramic views on the iconic monuments of the city. I will tell you why Budapest is called 'Spa capital of the world', who were the first to discover the healing hot water on this land and how a thriving spa culture evolved here during the medieval ages. I will talk about the Roman and Turkish bath culture in Budapest and about the history of the construction of the marvellous spas which we can admire today. I will tell you when the first public baths in Budapest were established, what they looked like and why they were of great importance in the life of the citizens of the former capital. We will explore the charming ’Water City’ district whose residents based their livelihood on the proximity of the Danube through centuries. At the end of the tour I will sing you some of the most beautiful Hungarian folk songs to let you get a taste of Hungarian culture!
