Overview of your Budapest tour

Since I'm married to a Jewish man and I also found that out I have some Jewish family members as well I became interested in Jewish history and culture a whole lot more than before. I dug into written sources and became familiar with a lot of personal stories about 20th century history at this subject. Budapest is truly special because it is the only city where descendants of real Holocaust survivor live. On this tour we are going to explore the 19th century Golden Age of the Hungarian Jewish population. This will be followed by talking about what happened in the 1920-s to the 1940-s: gradual deprivation of rights to outright genocide. Hungarians killing Hungarians. Terrible and weird. There is a lot left to be discussed about the dirty political games of Europe. Let's do it together! As this tour visits places of worship, please wear appropriate clothing (no shorts or short skirts, shoulders must be covered. ) The whole walking tour takes place in the former Jewish ghetto area, today's Jewish Quarter.

Barbara's walking tour of Budapest's Jewish Quarter was an unforgettable experience, blending history, culture, and a touch of modernity. Our journey began just outside the Jewish Quarter, where Barbara vividly described the bustling square and local markets, setting the scene for our adventure. Overall, Barbara's expertise and engaging storytelling made this tour a highlight of our trip. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest!

Barbi was a fantastic guide to Budapest. She took us to such interesting places! She was engaging and informative. Her background and knowledge enabled us to discuss so much more than just Jewish heritage. Her English is flawless. I would highly recommend her as a guide. And the stop for flodi was well timed and delicious!

Barbara was helpful and considerate and informative. We spent two long days together and we had plenty to talk about. We covered all the important parts of the city and also some lesser known ones which was a delight to her as well as to me. She was terrific and easy to be with.
