You will be met at your hotel reception. We use excellent public transport to get to and from Dachau and in the afternoon we will walk and take in the sights in Munich at your own pace.

The morning consists of a detailed tour of the Dachau Concentration Camp memorial site. I have been an official guide at the memorial site for 19 years now. During the years I have had many survivors, their family members, and many of the camp liberators. I always aim to relate their stories to visitors

The afternoon consists of a Third Reich walking tour of Munich. You will see the major sizes connected with the Third Reich and the rise of the Nazi party. Having researched this history in depth, I always try to give interesting little facts that I have come across from people on the ground here over the years.

Dachau was the first concentration camp to open its doors in Germany, less than two months after Hitler came to power and was the only camp to operate for the full 12 year duration of Nazi tyranny. It served as the 'model' camp for all others and was also known as the 'school of terror' as the largest SS training facility within the Reich was located there. By the time the U. S liberators arrived on April 29th 1945 206, 000 people from 34 different nationalities had been imprisoned and in excess of 43, 000 had been murdered.

Dachau was also the first concentration camp to become an International Memorial in 1965.

This tour will delve into the history of Dachau at various stages in its history and subsequent use in the post war years. and help clarify the political and economic climate of the 1930's that allowed this tragic chapter in Europe's history to unfold. We will discuss the daily life of the prisoners, punishment in the camp, medical experimentation, religion camp, prisoner groups and liberation.

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site - Half-Day Trip from Munich

Dachau, located approx. 18 km northwest of Munich, was the first "prototype" concentration camp to be established by the Nazi Party in March 1933 and was later to become the "training ground of terror" for the SS.

Over 200, 000 prisoners were registered at Dachau in 12 years, out of which 31, 951 were registered deaths. Over 34 nationalities were brought through Dachau and its subcamps, thousands of them would perish from overwork, starvation, or disease.

Learn about Dachau's history in full detail, while hearing first-hand accounts from survivor's testimonies and stories of bravery and heroism. You will have a chance to watch the moving documentary film made directly after the liberation. ﻿

The name Dachau will forever be associated with the most infamous crimes of the Nazis.

This was the first concentration camp set up in Germany and served as a model for the others that followed. We'll see all the remaining original areas in the memorial (gatehouse, bunker, administration HQ, crematorium, rail platform, etc. ) and, if you like, have a look inside the extensive museum. You'll see how the camp began and how it was liberated by American troops.

You'll also see how it is remembered and presented, and how Germany comes to terms with this past today.

Combined tour Sound of Music sights and Eagle's Nest Round-trip from Munich

This is a full day tour to combine the sights of Sound of Music and Eagle's Nest, Eagle's Nest is only open from May to October. The trip takes you first on a city tour including the Mirabell gardens, festival hall, Stift Nonnberg Abbey, Palace Leopoldskron, Fronburg and the Gazebo in Hellbrunn. Then we drive to the area of Berchtesgaden to visit the Eagle's Nest or Saltmine, where you can have lunch. On the way to the lake district you will see the opening scenery.
