As a native of Bordeaux who's deeply rooted in its history, born into a Bordelaise family split between the city and the Right Bank countryside, I'm thrilled to share the wonders of my hometown with you. My mother was the first to educate me about the beauty of our city's heritage, so I naturally pursued degrees in Art History and History, graduating from the University of Bordeaux Montaigne. My journey took me abroad to UCSB, California, and the south of France, where I obtained my guide card in 2015. Since then, I've immersed myself in various aspects of tourism and cultural mediation, collaborating with different professional organizations to craft diverse tours across Bordeaux and its surrounding vineyards. From sailing on the Garonne and Dordogne rivers to promoting eco-friendly cyclo tourism, I've embraced a range of experiences. My guiding philosophy revolves around unraveling Bordeaux's complex history through engaging narratives and intimate insights. Whether it's a classical tour or an off-the-beaten-path adventure, I aim to make each experience playful and participative, providing you with a deeper understanding of our vibrant city. Beyond guiding, I'm deeply involved in my sister's organic wine estate near St Emilion, allowing me to offer unique insights into Bordeaux's wine culture. From historical perspectives to technical approaches to viticulture, I'm here to accompany you on a journey through our region's vineyards. I'm committed to creating meaningful connections with our surroundings. Whether it's a leisurely stroll in Bordeaux or a full-day exploration, my tours are adaptable to your preferences, ensuring a personalized and memorable experience. Let's decode Bordeaux's way of life together and create unforgettable memories in this beautiful city! Listed by UNESCO in 2007, Bordeaux is the largest urban area to be protected by them. It can be confusing to discern what's worth seeing upon arrival in the city, especially when your time is limited! So don't let yourself be overwhelmed; I'm here to guide you through a careful personal selection of what I consider the best Bordeaux has to offer. During our two-and-a-half- hour tour, I'll lead you on a gentle walk through the downtown to showcase how Bordeaux's architecture & urbanism have evolved. Together we'll visit hidden charming churches, trace remnants from the Roman period & unveil the gems of 18th-century architecture, which truly characterize Bordeaux. We'll also decode the meaning of medieval remains together! As a local and a graduate in history & art history myself, plus with the aid of maps & archival documents, I'll break down the intricacies of local history for you, providing a clear overview of our millennia-old city.
Depending on our meeting point, the itinerary can vary. This being said, here's a list of the highlights that we'll see along the way: ·19th century Girondin's Monument and Quinconce Square. ·18th century Great Theater and Triangle District. ·17th century Baroque Our Lady Church. ·18th Stockexchange square and the docks facade. ·Water mirror and Stone Bridge. ·Medieval Saint Andrew Cathedral and the neoclassical City hall. ·Medieval Cailhau and Eloi gates. Depending on the weather, make sure to bring a bottle of water and sunscreen or a raincoat and an umbrella. As a token of appreciation for your active listening and participation, you'll be treated to a traditional local pastry to enjoy after our walk!
