Hello, my name is Hubert and Bordeaux is my hometown. I have been an independent tour guide for the last 9 years. I graduated Bordeaux university with two Masters: one in Roman History with a special focus on Bordeaux and its region, and another one in Journalism. I worked as a journalist for 8 years in Paris reporting for a television channel. Thanks to this great experience, I have travelled extensively all over the world and developed a deep appreciation for other cultures. After living in Paris for several years, I decided to go back to my first two loves: Bordeaux and History. I am now a full-time tour guide in Bordeaux, the Bay of Arcachon, and St Emilion. My roots are in Bordeaux and I take great pleasure in sharing this city I love so much. I know each street and alley, each statue, each corner. They all have a story I am eager to tell. My tours are unique and customized to the needs and interests of my audience. It is really important to me that you feel comfortable and engaged. I am energetic and bring my stories to life by communicating my passion. I like making connections between Bordeaux, the French history, and the country of my guests. And I always do so with humor. My one and only goal is to offer a unique and unforgettable experience. My deepest joy is to hear my guests at the end of a tour saying « I have fallen in love with your city ». And I promise you will ! Official guide card Master's degree in journalism Master's degree in Bordeaux Roman History Wine set level 2

Few cities in France have been shaped by Jewish history as profoundly as Bordeaux. On this walking tour, we trace the remarkable journey of the Jewish community through the centuries, from their earliest presence to their lasting legacy on the city we see today. Our story begins in the 1st century, with traces of Jewish life still visible on some of Bordeaux's great Christian monuments, including the Cathedral of Saint-Andrew. By the 19th century, Bordeaux's Sephardic community, with its roots in Spain, had flourished into one of the most prominent Jewish communities in France. A significant portion of our tour is devoted to the dark years of the Second World War. Approximately 1,600 Jews from Bordeaux were deported to Auschwitz. We conclude with a visit to the Grand Synagogue, a building dating from 1882 that carries its own haunting wartime history, having served as a place of detention during the Occupation.
Cathedral Saint Andrew - City Hall (outside) - Former prison (outside) - Synagogue (inside) Please note: access to the synagogue is available on weekdays only
