Bordeaux Day Tour to Saint Emilion

Saint Emilion is a small town in the Dordogne, about an hour's drive from Bordeaux, whose origins date back to the 2nd century when the Romans first planted vines there. In the 8th century it became a pilgrimage centre where Saint Emilion is said to have lived and performed miracles. We will stroll through the town and explore the main sights, the large Collegiate Church, the medieval market place, and an underground wine labyrinth. Of course, we will also taste the macarons for which Saint-Emilion is famous. We continue to the Cordeliers Monastery, famous for its sparkling wine, Crémant. In the old monastery garden, we have the opportunity to sit at small tables in the shade of the trees and enjoy an outdoor picnic. Next to the garden is the Cordelier picnic bar, where everyone can put together their own picnic basket with bread, cheese, pâté, vegetables and of course drinks, including crémant.

We will begin our walk through the large Collegiate Church and it's romanesque cloister, continue to the medieval market place, pass the two town wells, and descent to an underground wine labyrinth. Of course, we will also taste the macarons for which Saint-Emilion is famous. We continue to the Cordeliers Monastery, famous for its sparkling wine, Crémant. In the old monastery garden, we have the opportunity to sit at small tables in the shade of the trees and enjoy an outdoor picnic. Next to the garden is the Cordelier picnic bar, where we can rest and enjoy the afternoon.
