Bonjour! Welcome to Bordeaux ! My name is Julie, and I was born and raised in the countryside of Bordeaux, surrounded by vineyards. I moved to Paris right after graduation to work as a licensed tour guide for some of the most emblematic French monuments and sites (the Loire Valley castles, Louvre Museum, Normandy, and more!). It was an enriching experience ! When I came back to Bordeaux, I decided to specialize in wine (how could I not), and I'm now a full-time guide, who provides private wine and History tours with my minivan in the Bordeaux region, but also other areas such as the Dordogne, french Basque Country or the Arcachon Bay. I've always worked in tourism and I am a curious person, so I keep learning every day. Thanks to my experiences in various French regions, I will be able to adapt to your interests and customize THE tour you need. I am a very attentive person and I really want you to enjoy your time here. So do not hesitate to ask me for advice! I'm really looking forward to welcoming you to my region so I can learn more about you. My objective is not to give you a lecture, but rather to have a discussion to make it more enjoyable for you (and for me!). A bientôt! Beside its world famous vineyards, Bordeaux is also known for being close enough to the ocean coast. Over there, we talk about wine only to pair it with the fresh oysters. Indeed, landscape is quite different, with forest and sand dunes, oyster farms are in every village, and fishing is also an important activity. We are very proud of having the highest sand dune in Europe, the majestic Dune du Pilat. After climbing it, you’ll be rewarded by a breathtaking view from the top, over the forest, the bay and the ocean. It offers a very sane and peaceful environment, which explains the development of the city of Arcachon in the 19th century for people wanting to heal from respiratory diseases. I’m sure you understood how exceptional this place is, and it’s only 1-hour drive from Bordeaux. It would be a shame to miss it!
