Hello dear travelers, my name is Danny. I've worked about 6 years in travel agencies organizing tours around Ecuador and now I've been working for the past 7 years as a freelance guide. I have extensive knowledge guiding on the 4 different regions of Ecuador (coast, mountains, jungle, and Galapagos Islands), I believe experience is one of the best factors in tourism in order to offer the best service and reach out the goal that are the smile and welfare of my passengers. Besides being a tour guide I maintain a constant qualification in ecological and anthropological subjects. I am convinced tourism is the best way to build bridges of respect and brotherhood among cultures. I have had the opportunity to lead groups of different and varied interests all over the country. One of the hobbies that I have is the practice of hiking and trekking around my country. The geography of my country is one of the most difficult ones, because we live surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. I would really be very excited to show you the riches of one of the most biodiverse countries in America. -National Tourism Guide Degree issued by Tegnologico de Turismo y Hoteleria Internacional ITHI. Despite its modest size, Otavalo is probably the best known city of Ecuador. It lies at 8300ft above sea level in a spring-like valley, situated between the Imbabura volcano and the Cotacachi volcano. The most famous indigenous market is held here. Although the market is bigger on Saturdays, you can visit it any day and find an impressive variety of all kinds of Ecuadorian handicrafts. At dawn, you may see indigenous people arriving at the marketplace from many mountain trails surrounding the city. I my personal opinion in the way to Otavalo you are going to realize the "real Ecuador", why? Because everything is completely different from what you can find in a big city, the architecture of the houses, the lifestyle, the commercial activities and even the people are different, it is an area where most people are indigenous. The Otavaleños are indigenous people who are well known worldwide, because they preserve and are very proud of their traditions, especially in the making of their textiles.
This is a sample itinerary starting at 08h00 from Quito towards the north. 10h30 Approx. at the view of San Pablo Lake and Imbabura volcano. 11h00 Otavalo Market (one hour for shopping). 12h30 Cotacachi Village. 13h00 lunchtime. 14h30 Peguche village. 16h30 Approx. back in the hotel.
