Hi, my name is David and I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. I have a university degree in Ecology and tourism and over 16 years ago I started working as a naturalist guide in the lodges located in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rain forest. However, nowadays, I guide everywhere in Ecuador! During all my years working as a guide, I have been learning more about Ecuador, not only about nature but also about the history & culture of my country and the indigenous groups that inhabited it. Due to my work I also got the chance to explore and travel to several sites and destinations inside Ecuador so I have added those special visits to my tours. I have guided groups as well as independent travelers coming from many parts of the world, which allowed me to know firsthand the needs and requirements of the different guests visiting this country. Some of my hobbies come handy with my work as a guide, and gave me a plus in my job such as: photography of fauna and nature, bird watching and trekking. Currently I am working as a TBL Tour Guide and I have been doing it since 2017 enjoying it very much. With this new situation of the pandemic I kept myself learning more about art and culture of Quito and Ecuador and I am preparing all my tours to go according to my client's requests. My tours range from City Tours of the Old Town in Quito, to day trips and circuits to the surrounding areas of Quito and around the country. From the Amazon Rainforest and through the Andes. Plus all the itineraries can be customized to meet your needs. I look forward to seeing you in Quito and Ecuador! David National Tourist Guide Licence provided by the Ministry of Tourism in Ecuador. David was an awesome tour guide and great at communicating. He arrived early at our requested pickup location. He knew a lot about everything. We hiked to two waterfalls, he identified birds for us at a restaurant in the cloud forest. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch, then visited middle of the world. He is happy to customize your tour. We highly reccommend David and will definitely call him when we return to Ecuador.
We had an excellent experience on our customized variant of this private tour. Planning was easy and stress-free. David was very responsive and flexible, allowing us to adjust the itinerary both in advance and on the day of the tour. He picked us up at our hotel near the Quito Airport and drove us comfortably to Mindo Cloud Forest, sharing insightful information about Ecuador along the way. The hummingbird gardens were unforgettable, with multiple species feeding directly from our hands, followed by a memorable visit to a butterfly farm. After a delicious lunch in town, we stopped at the Intiñan Equator Museum and Mitad del Mundo on the return trip. The tour was well-paced, informative, and tailored to our interests. David is a knowledgeable and professional guide, and we highly recommend him in general and this experience in particular to anyone visiting Ecuador.
David is absolutely incredible—hands down the best guide you could ask for in Ecuador. He’s warm, easygoing, and fantastic with kids, making our trip relaxed and fun from start to finish. He tailored the tour to our interests, and the hummingbirds were a true highlight we’ll never forget. David is a walking encyclopedia—his knowledge of Ecuador’s nature, history, culture, and geography is unmatched. He answered every question with insight and passion and in an engaging interesting way. If you're looking for a guide who’s friendly, flexible, and truly unforgettable, choose David—you won’t regret it!
We scheduled a private tour with guide David Galarza. We wanted a flexible casual day before our Galapagos cruise the next day. We wanted to a coffee plantation and have a light lunch at a local Ecuadorian establishment. David pick us up at our hotel on time and took us to visit a hummingbird farm, coffee plantation, and the Casa Agave tour and tasting. It was such a wonderful experience. David was pleasant and very knowledgeable about not only the sites but also the culture, climate, politics, and so much more. He adjusted our tour and times based on incoming inclement weather and communicated with us frequently. All three locations were not crowded and offered unique Ecuadorian experiences. We could not be happier with the tour he bult for us and we will certainly book him again when visiting Quito!
What a great day with a great guide! David was fantastic - our available time required some creativity to make things fit, and he did a wonderful job putting a great tour on. In a relatively short time, we hiked to beautiful falls, enjoyed birding, and had stops for both great local coffee and authentic lunch. He knows the countryside, is a very safe driver, and is a delightful conversationalist. Book without hesitation!
We'll depart from your hotel in Quito in the morning and drive northwest, watching the scenery transform as we enter the lush Cloud Forest. On the way to Mindo, we'll stop at one of the country's top hummingbird gardens, a paradise for bird lovers and photographers. Once in Mindo, we'll visit a butterfly farm to experience the diverse variety of tropical butterflies. We'll have a fantastic lunch and finish our day with a visit to an artisanal chocolate factory and tour. This tour can be fully customized—whether you prefer a full day of hiking in remote reserves, a more adventure-focused tour with zip-lines and tubing, or a relaxed visit to nature spots closer to Quito. At the end of the day, we'll return to your hotel in the city. We can also include a visit to the equator line if this is part of your preferences.
