For 34 years I have guided, toured and helped people plan everything there is to do in Ecuador from a one day tour to a week or more. I guide not just the Quito area but the entire Andes chain including Otavalo, Mindo, Papallacta, Banos, Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Ingapirca, Cuenca, Guayaquil and everything in between as well as the Galapagos and Amazon jungle. I am 56 years old and was the 4th nationally licensed guide in the history of Ecuador and have toured over 9,000 travelers even for the Ecuador government (the Minister of Nepal, 17 person entourage and police escort - PHEW!) and top travel agencies in Ecuador and abroad. I am a commercially licensed driver without ever an accident. I tour groups up to 50. For 4 or more simply ask me for a quote. I, personally, do not charge more for the guiding, but must, under strict Ecuador transportation law to protect your group, hire a special driver with specially inspected, commercially licensed vehicle, and this adds to the cost. This is a very long (12 hours) day trip that all travelers seem to enjoy and often request of me. The drive time each way from your Quito hotel will be about three hours. I use part-way a secret back road with scenery that is breathtakingly beautiful with special stops at truly local indigenous Indian abodes and artists. Once there you may hike down to Quilotoa Lagoon at the bottom or ride horses. Many elect to walk down and horseback ride back up. This trip can include an overnight; ask for a quote and recommended hotels. On the return towards Quito we can stop for an early dinner at beautiful, 400 year old Hacienda La Cienega, a treat in itself! Humboldt stayed here so many times his room has been preserved and can be seen as well as the wonderful family chapel. The same family has owned this hacienda since colonial times when it took a week to reach Quito; now it takes one and a half hours!
Vivian is an excellent guide. Her English is perfect, she has a comfortable car, drives well, and is very knowledgeable about Ecuador. She also has many local contacts so we were able to add a few stops along the 3-hour drive to Quilatoa. If you have a full day and want to see the gorgeous scenery in Ecuador, this is a great trip!
Vivian was fantastic. Not only did she show us Cotopaxi and Quilotoa Lake, but she took us to a Spanish hacienda, a famous Ecuadorean painter's galley, and an indigenous farm. It was a great day!! Vivian also knows all the history of Ecuador. She truly is the best Quito tour guide.
Wow. What a fantastic introduction to Ecuador. Vivi was so informative and has a great knowledge of both fauna and flora as well as ecology and geology. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole day and came back to the hotel tired, but very happy. Thank you Vivi. The highlight was the Andean Wolf crossing in front of us!
I contacted Vivann many times. She always responded to all my emails. She organized a trip for four people. She picked us up at our hotel. First we went to Cotopaxi. We could not see the top of the volcano, so she had the driver continue going up until we saw the top. Next we went to Quilotoa. We hiked halfway down. She took us to an excellent restaurant for lunch. On the way back to Quito, we made 3 stops at places she thought we would like; a gorge, native house, famous painter. Excellent guide.

Quoted price is for up to three people in a nice, almost new, perfectly maintained SUV with commercially licensed driver, Vivian, never an accident in 32 years of touring. For four or more A PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIALLY LICENSED DRIVER and first class vehicle larger than required FOR YOUR SAFETY and comfort with large viewing windows at $190 more. I use only the very best with long histories of driving for me. Safety is our number one concern. This is a LONG day of 12 hours. Ecuador roads and other drivers are nowhere near U.S./European standards. A commercially licensed driver is very important for this trip and required by strict Ecuador Tourist Protection law for your safety.
