If you're looking for a one-day escape from Quito that look no further than a tour to Mindo. This cloud forest, not far from the capital, offers a variety of biodiversity, breathtaking scenery, and serenity. We stopped at a Butterfly Garden—a living rainbow of fluttering wings. Inside the lush enclosure, hundreds of butterflies danced through the air, landing delicately on flowers, fruit, and even our hands and faces. We visited a hummingbird sanctuary, and it was like entering a fairytale. Dozens of species zipped through the air, their iridescent feathers flashing in the sunlight. The air was alive with the hum of wing. With sugar water held in cups in our hands, the hummers were landing and feeding so close, with no fears. Whether you're a bird lover, a nature photographer, or simply someone who craves beauty and serenity, Mindo and surrounding area will steal your heart.

Gus did a fabulous job for us. He is very knowledgeable and willing to share all he knows about the history of the area, from its beginning, the people's who have lived there, its economy and politics. We let him know we wanted to know about the culture there and explore it - especially a local market of the foods, fruits and vegetables. As well as lots of information about nature, the animals that live there now as well as before. He took us to a garden filled with hundreds of hummingbirds - amazing and made me smile all the time. We went on a great hike up to a waterfall. The museum of the Middle of the Earth was well worth the time. His English was very good. We would highly recommend Gustavo (Gus).

I highly recommend Gustavo. He's very knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure I visited everything I wanted to see and that it was at a pace I was comfortable with. I enjoyed spending the day with him.

Gus was great! He was on time picking us up at our hotel. He was a pleasure to work with when constructing our custom itinerary. He was comical, knowledgeable, courteous, patient, and helpful. He is a true professional guide. He drove us to Mindo and we had a blast with the Cable car, zip-lining, hiking to the waterfall, observing hummingbirds and butterflies, white-water tubing, ATV'ing, and grabbing lunch. My only regret is Gus didn't join us on the white-water tubing...I didn't know he hadn't done it before, or else I would have invited him. Sorry, Gus! Next time! :-) Gus is a great guide. Don't hesitate to use him. Gus' English is excellent. He will also drive, guide, or both. He'll make suggestions and advise on timing and activities. I'd use Gus again if I were to ever visit Ecuador again.

we can not say enough about our day in Mindo with Gus. When I asked my son what was his favorite part of the first three days of vacation: Gus. he was full of energy and information and had a great plan for us but also followed our lead a d tweaked when needed. we loved gus. definitely recommend. and recommend for families with kids for sure.
