Andes Mountains are a very high mountain range all through south America, in Chile they get particularly high : 23. 000 feets high is the Aconcagua and 16. 000 feets elevation is El Plomo glacier mount, right in front of Santiago city on the way to La Parva and Vale Nevado, two of the most popular and best ski stations; with blue and black runs and with plenty of powder snow in winter season, located very close to Santiago within 1 hour drive from this city. You can ski in 1 of these ski stations, according to your preferences or maybe you just might want to enjoy going around these ski stations and mountains, enjoying an absolutely scenic and magic mountain landscape in south of South America.
- Early in the morning, we begin by driving up to Santiago east suburb through Las Condes district . - We take the road which only goes up into the mountains. Enjoying a spectacular view of the Andes Mountains beginning. - Drive up for about 40 minutes, with many switchback curves and climb to almost 8. 000 feets elevation. - We arrive to the first and oldest ski station: Farellones , with beautiful old style cabins, in an old mountains town. Here runs are mostly for beginners. - We keep going higher to El Colorado Ski station, the biggest and most popular ski station ; with many modern buildings, hotels and facilities for skiers. Here the runs are mostly blue and black. - Next to El Colorado is La Parva (a very exclusive ski station nearby) with blue an black runs , mostly . - Finally Valle Nevado, the newest and most touristic ski station in Chile. You can either ski here or we just keep touring around these wonderful places, to enjoy the rest of the day in either one of them.
