My family's story has been preserved in the archives of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association and featured by the Mount Vernon Library, where I have shared my family's history in its Bound to the Land oral history program. As an eighth-generation descendant of the enslaved community at George Washington's Mount Vernon, I bring a deeply personal perspective to one of America's most significant historic sites—one grounded not only in historical research but in my own family's lived experience. My path to tour guiding began long before I received my license. Growing up in Washington, I was fascinated by the guides leading visitors through the nation's capital. Today I am a licensed Washington, DC tour guide with more than a decade of professional guiding experience.
