Hello, I’m Riku. Nice to meet you 😊 I was born in South Africa to European parents, grew up in the United States, and have now lived in Japan for over 20 years. At university, I majored in Japanese language and international relations. I am currently a Japanese citizen and have spent most of my time here working as an actor, tour guide, and English teacher. I believe I can offer as much insight into contemporary Japanese culture as anyone. In addition to living and working in Japan, I’ve spent a total of at least eight years backpacking around the world. I love the outdoors, travel, sports, podcasts, books, cooking, guitar, and socializing. I’m a very curious and outgoing person with a strong sense of adventure. I’m particularly interested in Japanese cuisine and contemporary Japanese culture, along with all of its idiosyncrasies.
