On this half-day tour, you'll will plunge into the atmosphere of the past and visit an ancient city with its preserved streets, squares, houses, thermal baths and meeting places.

Ostia was the main port of ancient Rome. A city of vital importance for trade; its size increased with the expansion of exchanges with other countries around the Mediterranean. It was a bustling city. Daily life for the city's population involved all the activities of a metropolis: going to shops, praying at the temples, attending public events at the forum, theater or piazzas, going to the baths. . .
It was abandoned in the Middle Ages, which is why the city appears to be suspended in time. Walking through its ruins in the peaceful countryside of Rome is an experience that lets us feel and smell the daily life of a Roman colony at the time of the Empire.

You'll meet me and your driver at the hotel, the drive will take about 30 minutes and after the visit we'll return back to the hotel or wherever you prefer in the city centre

Are you a history lover or just curious to see the monuments that made this city so famous in the world?
This is the tour for you.

First of all, we will learn about the construction of the Colosseum, or Flavian amphitheater. The monument, so well preserved, is still impressing and a symbol of Ancient Rome. Gladiators, hunters, wild animals, acrobats, people condemned to death, we'll delve deep into the stories of the protagonists who made this place alive centuries ago.

We'll visit, then, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill: the archeologic park of Rome includes the most important administrative, religious and commercial sites of the old city. On the Palatine Hill, we'll admire the ruins of the Imperial Palace, centre of the power.

We'll then walk up to the Pantheon, in order to visit the best preserved temple of the past.

Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill & Pantheon - walking tour

Right at your dock you'll find a driver taking you straight to the city where you'll find me at the designated meeting point and our first stop, the Colosseum.

As we pay tribute to the most famous italian monument in the world we head to the Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia, the geographic center of the city, to see the Vittoriano. From there it is nice to get lost into the narrow alleys of the city center to get to the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona.

A break for lunch is scheduled before moving to the Vatican Museums and enjoying the highlights on the way to the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of Saint Peter where the tour will end.

The driver will meet you right outside Saint Peter's square ready to drive you back to the Port in time to board on your boat!
