An experienced Blue Badge tour guide with a PhD in Scottish history, I love my job! From castles and clans to ancestry, archaeology and the arts, Scotland's cultural heritage is rich and varied, and I'd love to help you experience it. With a background in higher education and historical research, I'm in an ideal position to help you explore ancient archaeology, kings and queens, witch-hunting, the Jacobites or many of the other fascinating aspects of Scottish history. Along the way, we can uncover so much more that Scotland has to offer: we can explore quirky customs, ceremonies, folklore and superstitions; feast on superb Scottish produce; embark on a whisky or gin trail; spot spectacular wildlife; bask in breathtaking scenery; visit film and literary locations (yes - definitely Outlander!); photograph iconic landscapes and architecture; and connect with Scottish artisans and craftspeople (I am a keen knitter and love using yarns produced or hand dyed in Scotland). I own a Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE (Luxury). This is a high end vehicle with a panoramic sunroof, allowing you the best possible experience of a driving tour in Scotland. I am part of a team that has been awarded the prestigious Green Tourism Gold Award for our efforts to ensure tours with us are sustainable and responsible, including a guarantee that driver-guided tours with me are carbon neutral. Scotland is incredible. Allow me to help you make the most of your trip :-) Ph.D. in Scottish history First Class Honours Degree in History Fully qualified 'Blue Badge' member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association (STGA), which means I am qualified and fully insured to guide throughout Scotland Scotch Whisky Trail Certificate Green Tourism Gold

On this 3-day tour we will journey through the Scottish Highlands and over to the Isle of Skye. En route north we will stop underneath the impressive Stirling Castle for a photo before driving through the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, through the majestic landscapes of Glencoe and Glen Shiel, and onwards to Eilean Donan Castle for a photo before crossing the Skye Bridge. We'll spend a full day touring Skye, taking in the colourful village of Portree and Dunvegan Castle before heading around the magnificent Trotternish Peninsula. Here you can visit the Fairy Glen, the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, the Quiraing, Kilmuir Cemetery, and the Museum of Island Life. On the return journey we will take a different route. The options are: 1) drive through the scenic Cairngorms National Park, visit the village of Pitlochry and go for a beautiful forest walk in The Hermitage or 2) depart Skye by boat to Mallaig then drive to Edinburgh via the Glenfinnan (or Harry Potter) Viaduct.
Day 1 I will pick you up from your hotel or port and drive the scenic route through the Highlands to Skye. We will stop a various places en route, including Stirling Castle (photo stop), Callendar, Glencoe and Eilean Donan Castle (photo stop). I will drop you at your chosen accommodation. Day 2 A full day to explore Skye, taking in the places listed above as well as many of the wonderful arts and crafts on the island. The day can be tailored to suit, so please feel free to get in touch for a fully customised tour. Day 3 Return to your accommodation in Edinburgh. Option 1: Drive through the scenic Cairngorms National Park, stopping at Pitlochry and The Hermitage. Option 2: Depart Skye by boat to Mallaig then drive to Edinburgh via the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter movies. This option is dependent on ferry availability.
