Hi Gente!! I was born and raised in Florence and live in one of the most ancient quarters of the city center with my husband and four children, the last of whom is named Michelangelo after you-know-who, I couldn't resist! Having had a full career with a major airline has given me the opportunity to travel the world, but my native city has remained my first love. I'm a university-trained expert in world history and Italian and European art history and have worked as a licensed guide since 2010. Living in Florence my entire life gives me the advantage of being able to share my city from a unique perspective. I can provide you with ideal, tailor-made walking tour or excursion itineraries whether your interests lie in exploring the most famous sites, museums and churches of Florence and Tuscany, or its fabulous wealth of lesser known treasures. As well as being able to provide simple or in-depth tours of those places most sought-out during first trips to the city, such as the galleries of the Uffizi, Accademia and Pitti Palace or the Cathedral Complex, my specialties include tandem family tours, Jewish Florence, The Florence of Dan Brown's Inferno, Florentine Arts & Crafts, The Medici Villas of the Countryside, and Contemporary Florence, to name just a few, as well as "fanciful" tours, like Timeless Love Stories of Florence, and tours that focus on a specific artist architect or theme. Additionally, I can organise excursions that will allow you to experience Tuscany outside of Florence, including its world famous wines, cheeses, olive oil and vinegar. If you're not sure exactly what you would like to accomplish during your holiday, we can work together to come up the best possible, individualized itineraries for you. Three good reasons for not visiting Florence without me: It's easier: you can pull your nose out of Google Maps or Lonely Planet and devote your full attention to the beautiful things you're traveling to Florence to see. It's smarter: You're coming face-to-face with over 2, 000 years of extraordinary events, unique works of art, famous people, and brilliant ideas-and I have it all in my head for you! It's more practical: see the two points immediately above. Are you on vacation or not?! We will begin our tour at the arranged location and we walk to the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most-visited museums in the world, where we'll trace the evolution of Italian painting through a magnificent selection of masterworks produced by artists that range from the Gothic master Giotto and continue on through the apex of the Renaissance with Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Botticelli and other extraordinary artists. After, we'll head to the Accademia to see Michelangelo's majestic David as well as some of his other most famous works. During our tour, I'll be explaining the historical significance of the works we're looking at as well as giving you details about the artists' personal histories, working styles and the life and politics in Florence at the times in which they were working, in order to give you a thorough understanding of these monumental works of art.
We will begin at the arranged location and we walk to the Uffizi where the visit will include a selection of its most significant holdings. We will then head to the Accademia to see Michelangelo's most iconic work (the David!). *The sequence of the visit might be reverse (Accademia gallery first, then Uffizi gallery) for tickets availability issues. *The list of paintings is subject to change for reasons beyond the guide's control We will do external visit of piazza della Signoria, ponte Vecchio and piazza del Duomo.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
