Warm welcome to my country and city, My name is Patricia. I have been a professional licensed tour guide in the UK for more than 24 years now and holder of the prestigious Blue Badge. I also have an MA in Japanese history and Japanese language. I am fully insured and licensed to guide in most official historic sites in the UK including inside of Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, Windsor Castle, Parliament and a number of museums in London. Explore the world's most famous botanical gardens with a knowledgeable private Blue Badge Guide who lives close to the gardens and often lectures on the history of the gardens . Kew gardens is not only a place of beauty but also an scientific institution of plant conservation and has a history of more than 250 years. You will see exceptional plants and flowers from all different continents of the world. My tour is very diversified. We will visit a number of 19 C tropical greenhouses, a Mediterranean garden, stunning roses ( in spring) and rhododendrons, the arboretum, exotic buildings such as the Chinese pagoda and the smallest royal palace in England. I will show you my absolute favourites and tell you very interesting stories about how some plants ended up in Kew Gardens.
Make your own way from central London to Kew Gardens Station, 30min by underground or 40 min by taxi. Your guide will wait for you at the Kew Gardens Station exit if you travel by underground or at the Victoria Gate entrance to Kew Gardens on Kew Road if you come by taxi. We will visit the Garden's most important sites including some Victorian greenhouses ( the Palm House, Temperate House, and Water Lilly House), the English Garden, an exhibition of botanical paintings by the 19th botanical art pioneer Marianne North, see Kew Palace and more much more. I will tell you fascinating facts and anecdotes about the garden's interesting history. This tour can be adapted to your specific field of interest and for children. There are plenty of interesting things to discover such as the Beehive and the Treetop walkway. After the visit, you may want to decide to stay and have lunch or enjoy afternoon tea in one of the restaurants in the gardens or browse in the gift store before making your way back to your hotel.
