Welcome to the City of London! I'm lucky enough to live right here in the Square Mile and I can't wait to show you around. While 500, 000 people come to work in the City of London every day, only 9, 000 of us actually live here. So if you're looking for an insider tour of this magical neighbourhood, then look no further. A writer by trade, I love a good story - and over the pandemic I discovered that the City of London is packed with them. When the streets emptied out, I spent hours just walking. Every time I stepped outside, I spotted something different: Roman remains, a secret garden, a plaque marking the spot where Shakespeare once lived. It inspired me to discover more about the Square Mile, and to train as a professional guide. The City is the oldest part of London, with 2, 000 years of history, culture and architecture to discover. But I also love the 21st century version with its skyscraper viewing platforms and seriously good coffee. Join me on a tour and experience the City like a local. The oldest neighbourhood in London, the Square Mile has seen plenty of trends come and go over the centuries. But did you know that fashion powered London's economy in the Middle Ages? Or that the shoes you wear can make or break your City career today? On this tour, we'll wander down alleyways and stroll through the City's premier shopping streets to explore the history of fashion in the Square Mile. We'll stop by Roman remains to find out about London's first ever fashion export, and meet the monarch who invented modern menswear. A former fashion journalist living in the City of London, I'm fascinated by what we choose to wear and how we communicate through our clothes. Join me on a tour to find out what fashion tells us about the Square Mile and its history.
We'll meet at Barbican station, and area with strong roots in the rag trade. Our route will include: - Goldsmiths' Hall (outside) - one of the City's ancient livery halls (outside) - The remains of the Roman wall - St Paul's Cathedral (outside) - London's unlikeliest runway - The City of London's newest shopping mall We'll finish outside the iconic Royal Exchange - the oldest shopping mall in London. There will be plenty of time to take photos and we'll stop for refreshments around halfway through - coffee, a snack, or perhaps even a cocktail. The itinerary can be customised on request.

An easy walk at your own pace. We'll be walking on paved areas but there may be some narrow cobbled streets and a few stairs along the way.
