Stone Circles and Sparkling Wine

Combine ancient history with modern craftsmanship - the thriving English wine industry. We set off early from your hotel and arrive at Stonehenge ready to explore this fascinating site. There are stone circles all around Britain but this is the only one with dressed stones, and the only one with lintels. Dating from the late neolithic to the bronze age I’ll explain its importance and why we think it was built. The whole landscape is covered in other prehistoric sites and, if time, we can show you where it is believed the workers lived. A short drive from Stonehenge lies Black Chalk vineyard, a modern, award-winning winery specialising in sparkling wine. English wine - especially its sparkling wine - is enjoying great success. Over a charcuterie platter we’ll try a few of their vintages, then go for a walk around the estate, which is nestled in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. After a relaxing, liquid lunch, we’ll travel back to London, arriving just in time to open one of your purchases…
