This is an exclusive tour of the City of London, led by a London Blue Badge guide, an expert in the City of London and St Paul's, who has worked in the financial sector. Walk along the narrow streets and alleyways as we discover the history of the old City, founded by the Romans nearly 2, 000 years ago. See how the City has evolved and appreciate the impact of the Great Fire of 1666 and the Blitz during the Second World War on the modern city. Your guide will show you fabulous architecture spanning 600 years and tell you all about the ancient customs, trade guilds, and livery companies of the City. You will appreciate how the layers of history come together to shape the modern city. We will visit St Paul's Cathedral, the masterpiece of the great architect Christopher Wren - astronomer, architect, and mathematician - saved by Winston Churchill. I will show you Wren's genius. We will visit the American Memorial Chapel and the magnificent tombs of two of our greatest war heroes, Nelson and Wellington.
• We will meet at the West Front of St Paul's Cathedral, by the statue of Queen Anne. • Private tour of the cathedral to include Wren's architecture and the Victorian alterations, memorials to the 'good and the great, ' the stories behind the dome, the American Memorial Chapel, the OBE Chapel, Wren's tomb, and the magnificent tombs of Wellington and Nelson.
