Hello and welcome to London! I'm British born and bred and have lived most of my life in and around London, with spells in the wonderful cities of Durham and Bath. Foreign languages were my first love and I loved living and working in France and Germany. Speaking foreign languages was my passport to the world and I've always enjoyed "getting under the skin" of the places I visit, chatting to locals, wandering off the beaten track and getting an idea of what it's like to live in a place, rather than just ticking off the "must see" tourist sights. I'm a qualified Blue Badge guide for London - that's our top guiding qualification requiring 18 months of intensive study and a rigorous set of exams. Career-wise I've had a lot of fun organising conference programmes at home and abroad and, as a languages teacher, I've organised lots of trips for teenagers in France, Germany, Spain and the UK. This has taught me a lot about what makes for a memorable day out . . . . and that a friendly, well-informed, flexible guide with a sense of fun makes all the difference. I would love to welcome you to London, my home town, and show you some of the places special to me, whether it's your first visit and you want to see the highlights or whether you're a return visitor keen to discover something new. I've suggested some of my favourite tours, but feel free to tell me what you'd like to do and I will build a programme around you, including the best cafés, the best photo opportunities, the best views and the best way of getting around! Get in touch! I look forward to hearing from you. London Blue Badge Guide Camden Tour Guide I don't have a car, but I can arrange for a separate car and driver. As a Blue Badge guide, I can give tours inside St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London. Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace. I can also do day-trips by train or private car to the beautiful cities of Bath, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Overview of your London tour

London is a city of contrast. London's "Square Mile" or financial district with its skyscrapers, historic churches and city workers sits cheek by jowl with Spitalfields and the traditionally working-class East End. For centuries, Spitalfields has been a place of immigration with generations of French Huguenots, Jewish, Irish and, most recently, Bengali people fleeing religious persecution, famine, poverty or war. Now it's a magnet for young Londoners and international students. Where once there were clothing sweatshops and overcrowded slums, we will see gentrified streets of Georgian housing, silkweavers' attics, soup kitchens and warehouses converted into artists' studios, stylish restaurants and hip offices. We will stroll through Spitalfields Market, see London's oldest surviving synagogue and visit Brick Lane, home of the "curry". Along the way we will take in some street art and hear stories of the "Kindertransport" and Eastenders who got rich. I can customize this tour according to your interests
