How would you like to take a trip in my time machine!? Would you like to see two thousand years of history of London from the Romans right up to the present day? I can show you around this amazing city that I was born and brought up in. You will hear about poets and playwrights, Lords and Ladies, politicians and Prime Ministers, Princes, Princesses, Kings and Queens, some with their heads and some without their heads. . . all of this is possible, and so much more! If you're interested in the history of Rock'n'Roll in London, why not go back to the Swinging Sixties with me, and then on to the seventies, eighties or nineties, and back to the present day? The vehicle I use to take my guests on a time-travelling journey is actually a London black cab. These iconic taxis are loved and trusted by London's travelling public and are regularly voted the best in the world. They are a great way of seeing the sights, and are air-conditioned with plenty of leg room. They are also wheelchair-accessible. I have been a London taxi driver since 2006 and a qualified Tour Guide since 2011 - just in time for the London Olympics of 2012, which was a magical time for all of us that experienced it. I love my hometown of London dearly, and nothing gives me more pleasure than to show visitors around what is arguably the world's greatest capital city! But my knowledge of history isn't bound by the borders of London, not by a long stretch. I have been taking my guests for many years to wonderful places such as Oxford, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath and the Cotswolds - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, if ever there was one! You can see all of this and more - all from the comfort of an iconic London taxi, driven by a knowledgeable, experienced, affable and personable driver - yours truly! I look forward to seeing you! Licensed London Taxi Driver (Black Cab) since 2006. Member of City of Westminster Guides and Lecturers Association, qualified 2012. Qualified Taxi Tour Guide, since 2011, with the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, accredited by City of London. Associate member of Black Cab Heritage Tours. Member of English Heritage. Member of the National Trust. Member of Historic Royal Palaces. Please note that I do not have a license to guide within St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey or the Tower of London. I can only guide in English.

The world's greatest fictional detective first appeared in print in 1887's A Study In Scarlet, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. There followed three more novels and 56 short stories, mostly narrated by Holmes' friend and biographer, Dr John H Watson. As well as being the greatest fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes is also the best known, listed in the Guinness World of Records as the most portrayed literary character in film and TV history. We will be visiting many locations seen in the BBC series 'Sherlock', starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. London appears so often in the Sherlock Holmes series of books that it is almost a character in its own right. There are over 200 Holmes landmarks in London, and we will be driving around the most important in my licensed London cab. Sherlock Holmes' creator, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was an absolutely fascinating character and the most successful author of his generation. We will be visiting the London locations associated with him on this tour.
I will pick you up from any central London location. The tour has 3 major themes: the locations mentioned in the books, the locations seen in the TV series, and the locations associated with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The book locations include: * The restaurant where Watson first hears about the enigmatic detective from his friend Stamford. * The hospital where Watson first meets Holmes. * The house where Holmes and Dr Watson lodged. And many, many more! The Sherlock BBC series locations include: * The streets featured in the Taxi chase through Soho. * The hospital that features throughout the series (including the famous roof-jump scene!) * Speedy's cafe, above which Holmes and Watson live. And many, many more! On the Arthur Conan Doyle trail, we will visit: * Arthur Conan Doyle's workplace. * The scene of the most important meetings in the history of English literature. And many more! On the tour, we will also visit the Sherlock Holmes pub! Also available as 3 hour or 4 hour tour. Please ask for details.
