Warm welcome to my country and city, My name is Patricia. I have been a professional licensed tour guide in the UK for more than 24 years now and holder of the prestigious Blue Badge. I also have an MA in Japanese history and Japanese language. I am fully insured and licensed to guide in most official historic sites in the UK including inside of Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, Windsor Castle, Parliament and a number of museums in London. Just drop me a line and we can work together to create your perfect trip! Apart from English, I also am fluent in Spanish, French, Dutch and Japanese, all languages I use regularly as a tour guide and interpreter. My interests are broad and range from royal history to architecture, art history, theatre to film locations and I have recently also specialised in visits to England's most beautiful gardens. . . I have been guiding for more than 25 years as a professionally qualified guide in many of London's sites and one of my personal favourites is the magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral, the masterpiece of architect Sir Christopher Wren. I would like to share my knowledge with you about London's greatest cathedral where many important historic events have taken place. I will show you its artworks, and the graves of British heroes and entertain you with interesting stories which will bring this magnificent cathedral to life. If you take this visit in the afternoon, you may get a beautiful even song concert thrown in for free as the choir boys of St. Paul's will often be there around 4:30- 5 pm. You will marvel at the architecture of this building including the hand carved choir stalls, the dome with beautiful fresco's and mosaics and see graves of famous British people.
I suggest we meet on the steps of the cathedral. I recommend you pre-buy your tickets at the best price online. We will look at the style and decoration of the cathedral, hear about the controversial construction, visit the American Memorial Chapel, OBE chapel, and much more. I will describe the funerals of the great British generals including the Duke of Wellington and Admiral Nelson as we have a look at their impressive graves. We will also look at some inspiring artwork, such as beautiful sculptures, modern installations, and the dome itself. For those who are super fit and with stamina, we could climb up to the Whispering gallery or to the very top of the 540 steps for a magnificent view over the City of London. Or you may prefer to skip this bit and pay a visit to the excellent gift shop or go for a walk around the cathedral for the best photo opportunities from outside ( I can show you my recommended photo spots). I hope you will join me for a fabulous memorable visit to London's greatest cathedral.
