Hi! I'm Dewi, and I've worked as a tour guide for the last 12 years. Wow, how time has flown! Since starting work as a tour guide in 2013, I have built up an impressive reputation for excellence and fantastic customer service with several tour guiding companies. In the autumn of 2018, after working for other companies for five years and moving from a part-time guide to Head Guide and then the maternity cover for the Tour Director of a major UK tourism provider, I decided to begin offering my own unique tours through ToursByLocals. My interest as a guide includes film and TV tourism. I originally trained as an Actor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and have worked on numerous film and TV productions with companies, including the BBC. In fact, I am the only tour guide in the universe who can say they have stepped through the doors of the Tardis, as I was involved in filming a BBC Doctor Who ident in 2016. I am also a massive history geek who loves the history of the early to mid-20th century, especially the espionage of the Second World War. I love sharing my passion for history with others. All my tours are based on things that I love: film and TV, and my passion as a performer, director and teacher of Shakespeare and History. I can lead tours on everything from James Bond, Doctor Who and Downton Abbey to tours on the life of Sir Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare and the real world of London's secretive Spies. While being based in London, I am also able to conduct tours to South Wales (where the hit TV series Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sherlock were filmed and where His Dark Materials was filmed in 2018) and can take customers from London to Wales if they wish to explore the beautiful Welsh countryside. I can also accompany clients to the filming locations of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films (London, Oxford, and Lacock), as well as the filming locations for the hit TV series and the upcoming film of Downton Abbey. Given my range of film and TV knowledge, I can also create custom tours for clients interested in two or more film or TV shows but have only a short amount of time to explore the UK's vast film and TV sites. Currently researching a Doctorate at Queen Mary University of London. Master of Science (MSc) Degree Master of Arts (MA) Degree Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) Degree Public Liability Insurance Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check. I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding; I can offer a full range of experiences. Following this, I will be taking a short break between the 21st and 29th June 2026. As I will be out of the UK during this time, my response times may therefore be slower than usual.

Starting at the gorgeous Georgian Somerset House, my tour will take you to the locations from some of Britain's best Spy Films. Including sights such as Rules Restaurant (a favourite eatery of the great and good), the National Gallery (which houses a priceless parade of paintings), and of course, the headquarters of Mi6 in Vauxhall. Along the way, we will also learn about Ian Fleming, the creator of Britain's most famous spy, his inspiration for the stories, and his real-life war service, including his involvement in Operation Mincemeat and the famous 'Flyfishing Memo' and how Fleming was vital in the establishment of the American Office of Strategic Services (the OSS) the forerunner to the CIA! I'll even tell you what little we know about my great-uncle's wartime service in the Special Operations Executive and how this clandestine organisation inspired some of the Bond stories and even some of the characters!
The tour includes but is not limited to the following locations. Most of the locations are short (5-10) minute walks apart, but I suggest that we use public transport or a taxi between Whitehall and Vauxhall as to walk this section of the tour can be quiet tiring. • Somerset House • Rules Restaurant • Charring Cross • Trafalgar Square • The National Gallery • The Reform Club • Carlton Gardens. • The Mall • Admiralty House • Whitehall • Vauxhall Bridge The tour is fully customisable, so if you wish to start somewhere other than Somerset House (Eg. your accommodation or another London tourist attraction) then we will head to the nearest location first and work our way through the locations in an order that best suits you.
