Please note: Between September 2025 and May 2026, I will be supervising Master's Students at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you require a tour on Tuesdays, or Thursdays, please feel free to drop me a message and I will see what I can do with regard to my availability. In June 26 I'll be presenting a paper at the Tourism, Hospitality, and Events International Conference. The paper will consider the personalisation of Tourism experiences based on lived and living experiences of the tour guide. Hi! I'm Dewi, and I've worked as a tour guide for the last 12 years. Wow, how time has flown! Since starting work as a tour guide in 2013, I have built up an impressive reputation for excellence and fantastic customer service with several tour guiding companies. In the autumn of 2018, after working for other companies for five years and moving from a part-time guide to Head Guide and then the maternity cover for the Tour Director of a major UK tourism provider, I decided to begin offering my own unique tours through ToursByLocals. My interest as a guide includes film and TV tourism. I originally trained as an Actor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and have worked on numerous film and TV productions with companies, including the BBC. In fact, I am the only tour guide in the universe who can say they have stepped through the doors of the Tardis, as I was involved in filming a BBC Doctor Who ident in 2016. I am also a massive history geek who loves the history of the early to mid-20th century, especially the espionage of the Second World War. I love sharing my passion for history with others. All my tours are based on things that I love: film and TV, and my passion as a performer, director and teacher of Shakespeare and History. I can lead tours on everything from James Bond, Doctor Who and Downton Abbey to tours on the life of Sir Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare and the real world of London's secretive Spies. While being based in London, I am also able to conduct tours to South Wales (where the hit TV series Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sherlock were filmed and where His Dark Materials was filmed in 2018) and can take customers from London to Wales if they wish to explore the beautiful Welsh countryside. I can also accompany clients to the filming locations of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films (London, Oxford and Lacock) as well as the filming locations for the hit TV series and upcoming film of Downton Abbey. Given my range of film and TV knowledge, I can also create custom tours for clients interested in two or more film or TV shows but have only a short amount of time to explore the UK's vast film and TV sites. Currently researching a Doctorate at Queen Mary University of London. Master of Science (MSc) Degree Master of Arts (MA) Degree Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) Degree Public Liability Insurance Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check. I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding; I can offer a full range of experiences. From the moment I watched the first episode of Slow Horses, I was hooked. The world of Jackson Lamb and his washed-out crew of unlikely MI5 heroes captured me like a poorly trained Russian agent. With a passion for the TV series, and the real world of espionage, I aim to show you not only the shows' filming locations but also explain where the Apple TV series gets its inspiration from, and where they sometimes get things wrong. Starting at Farringdon Tube Station, we’ll explore the locations used in the Hit TV series, including Slough House, The Barbican, and Bank, as well as the various dirty, damp, and dank alleyways that always appear in Slow Horses, leaving the regular tourist trail behind us. As we explore, I'll pull back the curtain. I'll explain the real-world history of the locations before showing you how key scenes were created, share behind-the-scenes secrets, and draw fascinating comparisons between the show's fiction and what I know about the real MI5 and other British spy agencies.
The tour includes, but is not limited to: Beppe's Cafe (where Lamb has his breakfast in Season Five) Slough House The Barbican Centre The Royal Exchange (where Second Desk calls Code September in season two, and where Robert Hobden is assassinated in season one) St Lawrence's Church (where spies such as Sir Charles Parker and Min Harper are memorialised) Please note: This walking tour is an independent venture and is not licensed, authorised, or endorsed.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
