From the time I went on a school trip visiting the great religious houses and castles of England at the age of 11, history had me hooked. Graduating in History, I later ran and organized tours for over 30 years throughout Great Britain and beyond. I love showing people the very best of England and despite guiding for such a long time, there are always new places and new things to learn. I've toured throughout Great Britain and more, both as a guide for private groups and smaller organized tours. My main interest is customizing my tours to fit my passenger's needs. The type of tours I run vary considerably; whether it be gardens, castles, stone circles or historic towns and cities but what they all have in common is that they're surrounded by the English countryside, rich in both history and variety. I am a London taxi driver (black cab) and as such we have to pass the fiendishly difficult "The Knowledge" of London which means, amongst many things, we have to know over 10, 500 roads and thousands of points of interest. Our access to London's bus lanes means that we can navigate our way quickly and efficiently through the busy streets of the city. The taxi I drive can sit up to 6 people, is adapted to take wheelchairs and has a perspex roof for a better touring experience. I am a qualified and licensed tour guide through the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage drivers. Bachelor of Arts, Humanities (History), University of Central Lancashire. Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage drivers taxi guide. Full PCV (coach driver's licence) 30+ years of experience tour guiding. Not able to guide within Windsor Castle, Westminster Abbey or the Tower of London. However I am available to escort guests.

My connection with Cotswolds started almost 50 years ago when our uncle took us on a tour of the area. A great raconteur, he regaled us with stories of old England and England's Civil War of 350 years ago. Have you heard of the expression, "Any old Tom, Dick or Harry?" or where the expression spinster came from, for an unmarried woman? How about "keeping you on tenterooks"? The Cotswolds, a part of England famed for its honey coloured stone. In the Middle-Ages, this area produced the finest wool in Europe and the hunched stone built cottages & splendid churches stand as testimony to these prosperous days. On our tour, we will visit what is claimed to be the loveliest town in Cotswolds, as well as the "Venice of the Cotswolds". We'll also see an old water mill & the highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow, known as the antiques capital of England and its oldest inn. We'll take a tour of Oxford too, and visit some colleges whose history goes back centuries.
·After pick-up, our first stop will be "Stow on The Wold", which'll take roughly a 2 hour drive through the Chiltern Hills. ·Then a 20 minute drive will take us through the Slaughters, which, despite their names, are some of the loveliest villages in the Cotswolds. ·From here we'll take a drive through Bourton on the Water, popularly called "The Venice of the Cotswolds". ·Later, it's on to Burford, which is described as the most picturesque town in the Cotswolds. ·Lunch cou be arranged in a nearby inn before we spend the rest of day in the city of Oxford for a walking tour of some of the famous sites, including the Divinity school, Radcliffe camera, Hertford College and "The Bridge of Sighs". There'll be time to explore some of the colleges as well. ·We'll complete our day with a terrific view of the city from the University's parish church with a fascinating doorway, where two yew trees grow on either side. ·At last, you'll be driven back to your original location. This itinerary could be customized.
