Reviews March 2025 "Booking this tour was exactly what we needed to learn about the Tower of London. Our tour guide Warren was incredibly knowledgeable. We tossed questions at him throughout the tour and he never hesitated with his reply. Warren also made sure we had a prime spot for the daily 3pm ceremony while he explained the historical significance....I'll keep those magnificent visuals stored in my memory. Thank you Warren !" Warren was friendly, fun and very knowledgable. The tour was interesting and not too taxing [Warren] also gave us options to do after his tour was finished. I definitely recommend this tour. Join me for an unforgettable pub tour through centuries of the City of London's rich history and enjoy some amazing beer and wine along the way. If you have never tasted English Real Ale before I'm certain we will find something you love ! We begin at a stunning Grade II listed Art Nouveau gem; navigate the ancient lanes of the City to a historic cellar bar and literary haunt then step into the grandeur of the former banking hall. Our journey concludes at a tiny, atmospheric pub in the legal quarter that is steeped in character, serves delicious well-kept real ale, gastronomic food and is guarded by a quirky landlady and resident black cat dressed in a white neck ruff ! This small private group walking tour is a unique and engaging blend of history and pub culture that is perfect for beer, wine enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
Our adventure begins at a stunning Art Nouveau masterpiece built on the site of a 13th-century Dominican priory. As you admire its intricate mosaics and sculptures depicting jovial monks, you'll learn how it was saved from 1960s demolition by poet laureate Sir John Betjeman. We then dive into labyrinthine alleyways to discover an ale house rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666, its creaking floors and cavernous cellars contained London's literary elite. Descend into it's vaulted cellars and raise a glass to generations of writers who gathered here before us. Next stop is a grand former banking hall, relax with your drink among ornate ceilings, chandeliers, and intricate woodwork. Our journey concludes with a visit to one of London's genuine hidden gems, tucked behind the courts discover a taste of old London, where lawyers celebrate the close of a case and history is truly alive.
