Half Day London Highlights and Hidden Gems

When schedules allow, we'll also enjoy some of London's famous royal pageantry, which may include a close-up view of the guards and military band at Wellington Barracks or the mounted guard change at Horse Guards. Perfect for first-time visitors who want to see London's highlights, hear the stories behind them and get plenty of local recommendations for the rest of their stay.

We begin in Westminster with Buckingham Palace, St James's Park, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Parliament, Whitehall, Horse Guards and Trafalgar Square. When the full Changing of the Guard is scheduled, we may see the guards and military band up close at Wellington Barracks. On other days, we'll often catch the mounted guard change at Horse Guards instead. Ceremonies are subject to schedule changes or cancellation. **Please note:** We do not watch the full Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. When possible, we'll see parts of the ceremony from less crowded locations where we can get closer to the guards and continue our tour without lengthy waits. We'll then take the Underground to St Paul's Cathedral and cross the Millennium Bridge for wonderful Thames views. On Bankside, we'll pass Shakespeare's Globe and Tate Modern while discovering the area's colourful past. We finish at bustling Borough Market, where I'll leave you with recommendations for exploring - and eating! - on your own.
