Hi, my name is Nigel. I am a former History teacher and have been a tour guide in the UK for over 10 years. I believe tour guiding is about sharing knowledge, experiences and stories and having lots of fun along the way! I studied British and American History and Politics at university and have a passion for the history and culture of both countries. I have been very fortunate to have travelled to over 80 countries and have met some remarkable people and some amazing tour guides. I recently worked with the one and only Rick Steves, advising him on his London Travelogue and the next edition of his London Guide Book. I really enjoy creating opportunities to explore the amazing places in London and the South of England and meeting and speaking with locals and gaining an insight into their way of life. London has been my home for the past 30 years and I have a real passion for this incredible global city. There is so much to experience on foot and by using the excellent public transport system. If you are nervous about using the Tube (the subway) or the buses, fear not, I will help you navigate your way to the myriad of wonderful places that London has to offer. If the capital city is your focus, we can tour around the historic sights linked to the British Royal Family in Westminster, explore the ancient City of London with its Roman origins, hear stories of its colourful history and enjoy its spectacular architecture. You can experience the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the Houses Of Parliament, Buckingham and Kensington Palaces, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul's Cathedral, The Southbank, the West End and the East End. My aim is to design a unique, customised tour for you and your fellow travellers. We will tour at a pace to suit you and I am always happy to customise tours and make adjustments to ensure you have a wonderful time on vacation. Outside the capital city, England has so many great places to visit. It's a wonderful country to be a guide as there is so much history and life on the streets of every town and village. There are also a wide range of stunning places just a short journey from Central London. I run single Day Tours to Royal Windsor and Hampton Court using professional drivers or, if preferred, local trains. If you have an interest in World War II, the Churchill War Rooms, the RAC museum at Hendon, the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge and Fighter Command HQ are also well worth a visit and within easy reach of central London. For those wanting to experience London's range of gastronomic delights, I offer walking tours to some of London's Historic Pubs and Borough Market with its huge range of international street food. I am really looking forward to meeting you and sharing the many rich experiences that this country can offer. Hope we can make this happen soon! Here are my formal qualifications:- - Bachelor of Arts Degree Joint Honours in History and American Studies (Keele University) - Certificate in Education (Teaching Degree, Keele University) : History and Physical Education I have Public Liability Insurance. There are a small number of historic sites where I am not licensed to guide however there are official "live" guides or audio guides available at the this sites.

Overview of your London tour

London has been my home for over 30 years and every time I visit the centre of the city I discover a new piece of its remarkable history. It is a special place and truly has something for everyone. You will see, at close quarters, London's highlights - royal palaces, impressive state buildings in Westminster, the buzzing shopping and entertainment areas of The West End and see London's lifeline, the River Thames. You will gain an insight into the ancient City of London's fascinating history and hear incredible stories from its past. On this customised tour there are opportunities to explore and take photos of those iconic sights. We can stop for coffee/tea and also find a great place for lunch in a typical London pub or cafe or maybe have a picnic in one of London's beautiful parks or open spaces. Many choose to stay in town in the evening to see a show

The iconic hat sits atop our most wonderful guide Nigel who did a wonderful job job presenting some of our small group’s first timers to the city. A wealth of knowledge and humor and an occupation he clearly loves. We particularly appreciated him allowing us to meet the Prime Minister (maybe not meet, but his motorcade drove past us). And Nigel recommended a fabulous quiet lunch pub; authentic, quiet and had air conditioning! Fourteen thumbs up from our clan is seven!

I wish I could give Nigel 10 stars! He was truly excellent! I had a layover in London, and Nigel was extremely helpful in helping me figure out how to navigate from the airport to meet him at Victoria Station, and even helped me figure out luggage storge while we explored the city. Nigel made sure I saw all the highlights from Buckingham Place to Westminster Abbey to Big Ben to Piccadilly Street. He even made sure I saw my "must-see" - the King's horses! Nigel has a great personality, taught me some English sayings, did a great impression of Churchill, and was great company for my first afternoon tea. He is also extremely knowledgeable and his passion for history and sharing his love for his city is genuine. Thanks to Nigel, my first time in London certainly won't be my last!

Nigel was fantastic. He knows London so well and filled our afternoon with many highlights of London and tons of historical and anecdotal information. We had such a good time. I'm looking forward to returning to London and joining Nigel on one of his other fabulous tours. Thank you Nigel for looking after us so well. We had a great time, we were sad when the tour ended.

Nigel is amazing! Use him for private small group. He is worth it! Nigel customized our tour based on what we want to see plus things he thought we’d enjoy based on our interests. He brought London to life with his story like narrations of historical events. He also gave us time for a bathroom and snack break halfway through. Plus reco’s for bars and restaurants! Our entire group loved it! Then at the end Nigel helped us to navigate taking the underground back to our hotel. After walking 15,000 steps in 90 degrees heat, we were ready for a break! Nigel doesn’t take you in to ticketed events but talks about what you’ll see If you can, book Nigel for your first day, and plan rest of trip after. Thank you for a great tour Nigel!!!

We’d love to leave a 5-star review for Nigel! He guided us on two incredible tours through London—our first included Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben. The second took us through the historic City of London, where we explored the Tower Bridge and many other iconic sites. Nigel was absolutely outstanding! His depth of knowledge, engaging storytelling, and great sense of humor made our four days in London unforgettable. As first-time visitors , we learned so much and felt completely at ease thanks to his friendly and welcoming nature. We highly recommend Nigel and would gladly tour with him again! Cheryl and Doug
