Welcome to London. It's one of the wonders of the world and a very exciting place with something for everybody to enjoy. I'm a third generation Londoner and have been born and bred in the City. I'm a qualified City of London guide and have been leading many groups through the city. I love exploring together and each tour is different and everybody brings something new to the day. I've appeared on the US TV network NBC "Today" programme and spoken about what's available for visitors in London. I can run the tours described here or we can customise tours to meet your exact requirements. I've written a series of books "City of London guide books" available on Amazon which give a great background to the walks. I'm a specialist in the art, architecture, sights, eating and drinking places, churches, synagogues, mosques , gardens and history of the City of London and Whitechapel and lead regular walks in the area. I've written books about London's sights, literature and hotels, pubs and restaurants. I'm a graduate of Literature from Cambridge University and our walks are shot through with the history and characters of the city. I've worked in high tech for 40 years and been involved in the business side of the city. In short there's never a dull moment, come rain, wind or shine. I look forward to meeting you. I love to share the highways, byways and alleys of the city. On the walks we explore the key sights of the city, literary, historical background and of course some ancient pubs. Our walks are usually immersive with plenty of chances for everyone to get involved I have worked with the City of London Corporation, Greater London Authority, London Festival of Architecture, IT and Butchers' Livery companies, Circle Squared, Society of Authors, Baker McKenzie, London Unseen, Zyen and many other organisations arranging customised tours. I am a City of London certified guide and a ITG Green Guide. I run tours for the City of London. I also run tours for the Greater London Authority. Other organisations I work with are Circle Squared and Society of Authors. I am a graduate of Cambridge University with a literature degree. I've also a Computer Science qualifications. I do not have any kind of restrictions

My Amazon book "A Visitor's guide to Whitechapel" is a great background read. We start at Aldgate in the Roman wall. During the tour we visit : Chaucer, the Reformation, Jack the Ripper, Synagogues large and small, Ashkenazi and Sephardi. We visit the site of the Houndsditch robbery, and sites of worship used by Huguenot, Methodist, Jewish and Islamic faiths. The area is very lively and we see the birthplaces of some unlikely characters. Spitalfields market offers many delights and it's likely we'll end up enjoying some of them. We also see the scene of an old monastery and Jack the Ripper's first murder. My family arrived in this area as immigrants and we'll see the house where my grandfather lived in 1911. We also take in the street art by some of the world's leading street artists and see some amazing old alleys untouched by the wars and the finest Georgian shop front in London. If you like food there's a most amazing selection of street food outlets, pubs and restaurants ranging from Curries to Bagel

Sam is simply great. He is so knowledgeable on so many subjects, is a great teacher and truly loves what he is doing. I got the impression that he enjoyed learning and seeing new things on his tour also. My family and I saw things you do not see on a brochure. He was able to combine 2 subjects we wanted to learn about , the Whitechapel area and Pubs. Wish I had more time for more tours with Sam. Fantastic
We were 3 couples touring with Sam. We had a great time touring an area of London we had never seen before. We found Sam very knowledgeable about the area both the history of it and the contemporary vibe.
A mix-up meant we missed meeting Sam at the designated place and time. Sam cordially made time for a later tour. He knew the area in depth and shared his knowledge in a friendly and succinct way. Of the many tours we have taken over the years, Sam ranks among the best.
During this tour, we will be able to see: Monastery remains Bevis Marks Synagogue Spanish and Portugese Sandys Row synagogue Dutch Petticoat Lane Brick Lane Rothschild social housing arch & soup kitchen Brick Lane Mosque (which was a church and a synagogue) Huguenot houses Christ Church Spitalfields Market The itinerary is flexible, for any changes please let me know.
