I love spending time out in the country. The beautiful scenery, including bright yellow fields in the spring, the multicoloured country gardens in the summer, and the kaleidoscope of browns, oranges, yellows, and reds in the autumn always take my breath away. Add to this the stunning towns and villages made of soft yellow sandstone and the amazing food and you have the perfect tonic to city living. Indeed, sometimes my partner and I will jump in the car with our camera and a picnic and do this tour on our own just to get away from the hustle and bustle of living in London. Exploring many of the villages that are regularly voted the best places to visit in the Cotswolds, this tour gives you the chance to visit some of the prettiest parts of Britain with someone who is passionate about the past, loves to eat (and knows the best places to stop for food), and who, as an amateur photographer, knows where to get the best photos to make your friends back home jealous of this amazing, almost perfect, day out.
Starting with a pick up in central London the tour will visit the following locations: Woodstock - where we will briefly visit the grave of the great wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. Chipping Norton - the highest town in Oxfordshire, this scenic town boasts a marvellous former tweed mill and an impressive 15th-century wool church. Moreton in Marsh - believed to be the inspiration for the fictional town of Bree in J R R Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Moreton in Marsh is home to The Bell Inn, the inspiration for the famous fictional pub, The Prancing Pony. Chipping Campden is one of my favourite places to stop, and one of the UK's most beautiful tourist destinations. Stow on the Wold a well-known stop for antique lovers. Bourton on the Water, also known as the Venice of the Cotswolds - need I say more? Burford this chocolate box village is famous for its high street and links to King Charles II, as well as Lord Nelson, is a perfect spot for a photo.
