I'm an experienced Blue Badge Guide, trained and licensed to guide you on private tours inside key visitor attractions in London and South East England I specialise in custom Blue Badge Guided Private Tours in London and Day Tours out of London (or starting in the South East of England) for independent travelers, small groups, and families. With over 10 years as a Tours by Locals Guide, I've conducted nearly 400 5-star rated tours for visitors of all ages from around the world. My Blue Badge Guide qualifications, earned after nearly two years of rigorous training, allow me to guide clients through iconic sites such as Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, and Windsor Castle. Our comprehensive training covers detailed studies and examinations at significant locations like Royal Greenwich, the British Museum, and the National Gallery. It also includes guided walks around the City of London and panoramic tours across central London by car or coach. My Private Guided Day Tours outside London encompass day trips to Windsor Castle, Canterbury, Dover Castle, Hampton Court Palace, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Stonehenge. I also specialise in Private Day Tours to gardens, castles, and stately homes, particularly in South East England where I live. These tours can start from London, or from your hotel in the South East of England. Popular tours include Anne Boleyn's Hever Castle, Winston Churchill's Chartwell, Leeds Castle, iconic gardens like Great Dixter, Sissinghurst, Scotney, Nymans, RHS Wisley, and Kew. Additionally, I offer 'off the beaten track' tours of lesser-known gardens and manor houses, as well as the picturesque historic villages and countryside of South East England and The Cotswolds. I cater exclusively to small private groups, including families. My tours are highly customisable to fit your specific needs as part of your pre-trip planning. I aim to show you not just the main attractions but also how to navigate and explore further on your own. While walking is the best way to experience many parts of London, we can also use buses, the Underground 'Tube', riverboats, and black taxi cabs. For those with limited mobility or energy, there is a chauffeured private car tour option. For day trips out of London, travel options include train or a private chauffeured car. I am a graduate in History and Art History from the University of Cambridge, and have 5 'kids' in their thirties, 6 grandchildren, and a couple of dogs. Amanda was a great guide on our Windsor tour. Her knowledge was wonderful and she was able to ensure we made the most of our time in Windsor- a wonderful place to visit.
Amanda is an awesome guide! We had a leisurely day touring the palace and gardens. She didn’t overload me with facts but gave me just the right amount of information. Was lovely to be picked up and dropped off at my hotel by her so there was no chance I would get lost! The train trip from the city to the palace and back was enjoyable. I really enjoyed the day! Thank you.
We had an amazing day. I learned so much about royal history and current state of the royal family that I never knew. Amanda was fun and her timing was impeccable we never waited on long lines. I loved this tour and would do it all over. We had the rare opportunity to see the private rose garden too that day. Amanda was a good luck charm for both our days!
Amanda is very, very knowledgeable and efficient regarding the highlights and most interesting things to see at each venue. We highly recommend her for any London area tours.
Amanda was very punctual in picking us up. She knows the very best methods of transportation To get to Windsor Castle and Hampton Court. Amanda is very knowledgeable and walks you thru every detail of the locations . She is extremely efficient in managing your time to ensure you see everything on your tour. Amanda has a great personality, very easy to talk to and understand. We could not have and learned as much about Windsor Castle and Hampton Court without her.
Amanda is a great tour guide and a very pleasant person to spend the day with. She personalized everything, meaning filled in the (many) gaps of our understanding of British Crown history. It's complicated and Amanda made it much clearer. Another big plus was her understanding of just how to manage the travel to these places and navigating the crowds - especially at Windsor. She did a great job!
I will meet you at your central London hotel and we will take the overground train to the wonderful 'two palaces in one' Hampton Court Palace where we will see Henry VIII's splendid Tudor Palace including its old kitchens, the Great Hall and a replica of the king's crown, before touring the 17th Century Baroque Palace built by Sir Christopher Wren for King William and Queen Mary. We will also explore the glorious gardens that border the River Thames. At Windsor Castle, we will visit the magnificent State Rooms, where banquets and royal ceremonies have been held for 100s of years, and St George's Chapel, the site of royal ceremonies and the burial place of many monarchs from King Henry VIII to Queen Elizabeth II. We will stop en route for coffee, lunch, tea, and pub breaks as preferred. [Please note Windsor Castle is not open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and as a working royal residence may be closed on other dates depending on events taking place there].
