From beginning to end, our experience with Gary was exceptional. Prior to booking with him, he was quick to respond to my questions and tailored the tour to our family. He picked us up from our hotel in Central London (arrived early). As we drove, Gary explained the countryside and pointed out things for us along the way. We went directly to Canterbury Cathedral and walked through the town on the way. Gary is the only "non-volunteer" certified tour guide of the cathedral. His knowledge of the town and the cathedral was immense. We could have spent a day there alone. Then, we headed to a local pub near his very own village. The food was delicious , the staff was attentive and the village was super cute. Then, we headed to Dover Castle. Everyone at the Castle knew Gary and said we had "The Best Guide!" I believe it. What I loved were Gary's personal stories about playing in the tunnels as a kid. It really personalized the experience. We ended the day at the Cliffs of Dover. Gary avoided the tourist area where the buses parked, and took us to his favorite look out spot. It was absolutely beautiful, and we were able to see the shores of France because it was a clear day! He even brought his personal camera to take some pictures of us at the cliffs and sent them to us! Gary dropped us off at the Dover train station and we headed back to London to San Pancreas Station. Honestly, if we did this again, we could have managed taking the train in both directions. We had an amazing day and gained a lifelong friend in Gary. I highly recommend booking with Gary!

Hello, my name is Gary, as a Dovorian I was born in Dover and have spent my entire life living in the villages around Dover never more than 4 miles from the iconic White Cliffs. As a young boy growing up in the countryside I have fond memories of playing on the beaches and pretty coves around Dover. Re-enacting battles with my mates in the moat at Dover Castle & exploring the miles of old military tunnels beneath the White Cliffs of Dover. I'm family man first, I'm blessed with a wonderful wife, 2 beautiful daughters, 3 precious grandchildren & 1 more on the way! I spent my early years working in the construction industry and have always had a complete love of buildings and their architecture and how people live and work in them. Dover has some of the finest medieval buildings in England and of course surrounded with pretty Kentish villages & seaside towns. Like many things in life, I didn't plan to become a tour guide. In truth after a back injury (I'm fine now) I needed to reinvent myself. I decided to become a driver, I got all the right qualifications & licenses, a vehicle and set up my own business taking people to the airports for their holidays. I remember bringing a wonderful couple from their Central London hotel to Dover Cruise Terminal for their cruise, we were a little early so they asked "could you show us around" I can honestly say that was the moment I realised just what I wanted to do! My Light Bulb Moment! Since then I've committed to become the best private tour guide I can be. I've developed excellent relationships with Leeds Castle, Dover Castle and Canterbury Cathedral and more. From 2022 I will be an accredited tour guide at Canterbury Cathedral so I will be able to personally guide you. As a local I can take you to the best places to get the most from your day. My vehicle is a luxury Mercedes-Benz V Class, with 7 leather seats, fully air-conditioned and I always have a plentiful supply of complementary cooled bottled water. I'm happy to collect you from your Dover hotel, Dover Priory Train Station or Dover Cruise terminal & I can return you to your cruise ship at the end of your tour, or if you're leaving your cruise and want a transfer to your Central London hotel with a private guided tour en-route that would be fine too. Many of my clients like to be collected from and returned to their hotel in London for a day tour out of London. Overview of your London tour
Our journey starts with the City of Canterbury, one of the oldest and most famous Christian Structures in England, Canterbury Cathedral - I fell in love with this building as soon as I visited it, together we will see the ancient architecture and uncover the secrets of the cloisters and stained glass windows which tell their own story of times gone by. We will visit the White Cliffs of Dover, I have never lived further than four miles away from the Cliffs and they are a symbol of my Heritage and my childhood where I often played. I now fully appreciate the breathtaking views across the English Channel and can share this wonderful experience with my clients! I will take you to the amazing Medieval Dover Castle which has stood through two World Wars and has a mystique of its own as it recreates the history of the Kings and Queens of the past. My goal for the day is to make you feel welcome in my country and my part of the world and make sure you have the best memorable day possible!

Your London tour itinerary
Collected in a luxury Mercedes-Benz by your Guide from your London Hotel at 08:00 and drive to the City of Canterbury & walk through the old streets to the Cathedral. Canterbury Cathedral with its amazing architecture has over 1, 500 years of history and is breathtaking. I will personally take you on a private guided Tour and tell you the wonderful stories. Then to the White Cliffs of Dover. There is a 5-10 minute walk to the cliffs to get the best views where we can take a walk along the path on top of the Cliffs taking in the magnificent views, with plenty of photo opportunities. From the White Cliffs we will drive through some Kentish Countryside and, if you'd like, stop for lunch in a Kentish Village Pub. Then onto Dover Castle, this mighty fortification steeped in English history stands on the eastern heights of the White Cliffs. We will tour the Great Tower, the Medieval Tunnels. If time finish the day with a visit to a couple of seaside villages.
