Hi! I'm Dewi, and I've worked as a tour guide for the last 12 years. Wow, how time has flown! Since starting work as a tour guide in 2013, I have built up an impressive reputation for excellence and fantastic customer service with several tour guiding companies. In the autumn of 2018, after working for other companies for five years and moving from a part-time guide to Head Guide and then the maternity cover for the Tour Director of a major UK tourism provider, I decided to begin offering my own unique tours through ToursByLocals. My interest as a guide includes film and TV tourism. I originally trained as an Actor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and have worked on numerous film and TV productions with companies, including the BBC. In fact, I am the only tour guide in the universe who can say they have stepped through the doors of the Tardis, as I was involved in filming a BBC Doctor Who ident in 2016. I am also a massive history geek who loves the history of the early to mid-20th century, especially the espionage of the Second World War. I love sharing my passion for history with others. All my tours are based on things that I love: film and TV, and my passion as a performer, director and teacher of Shakespeare and History. I can lead tours on everything from James Bond, Doctor Who and Downton Abbey to tours on the life of Sir Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare and the real world of London's secretive Spies. While being based in London, I am also able to conduct tours to South Wales (where the hit TV series Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Sherlock were filmed and where His Dark Materials was filmed in 2018) and can take customers from London to Wales if they wish to explore the beautiful Welsh countryside. I can also accompany clients to the filming locations of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films (London, Oxford, and Lacock), as well as the filming locations for the hit TV series and the upcoming film of Downton Abbey. Given my range of film and TV knowledge, I can also create custom tours for clients interested in two or more film or TV shows but have only a short amount of time to explore the UK's vast film and TV sites. Currently researching a Doctorate at Queen Mary University of London. Master of Science (MSc) Degree Master of Arts (MA) Degree Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) Degree Public Liability Insurance Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check. I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding; I can offer a full range of experiences. Why not check out some press reviews of my tours? https://globetotting. com/harry-potter-walking-tour/ https://metro. co. uk/2021/10/04/famous-london-sights-youll-see-on-a-james-bond-tour-mi6-hq-15350485/ https://globetotting. com/james-bond-tour-london/ Please note: Between 15th and 21st June 2026, I will be delivering a paper at The Tourism, Hospitality, & Events International Conference entitled 'Autotopography and Tour Guiding: Lived Experience and the Local'. Following this, I will be taking a short break between the 21st and 29th June 2026. As I will be out of the UK during this time, my response times may therefore be slower than usual.

Starting with a pick up at your central London accommodation, this tour will take you to one of the most important sites in the Second World War - Bletchley Park. Home to the British code-breaking efforts, Bletchley Park is perhaps most famous for being home to Colossus the world's first programmable, electronic, digital computer, and Bombe device designed by the gay cryptographer and mathematician Alan Turing to decipher the German Enigma encryption. Upon arrival at Bletchley Park, your guide will help you explore this historic site, guiding you around the numerous visitor attractions including the largest collection of Enigma machines anywhere in the world, Hut 11 home to Bombe the machine used to decipher the German Enigma code, and exhibits which explore the lives of the people that work to Bletchley Park including Alan Turing who sadly died of cyanide poisoning after losing his security clearance after the Second World War. We will finish the day by drivingg back to your London-based accommodation.

Dewi told stories of individuals who worked at Bletchley, making the place come alive for us. It was a great tour.
Our guide Dewi provided an excellent all-day excursion experience to Bletchley Park. He has great people skills and is quite personable. The facility itself is very interesting and scattered across multiple buildings. If you are a bit of a computer geek like me, the early technology efforts undertaken by Alan Turing and his cohorts was really impressive. Also, our lunch in the Bletchley Park cafe was surprisingly quite good for a tourist site.
We spent the day with Dewi Evans touring Bletchley Park. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Bletchley, the people who made it tick, the impact on the war effort, and the intrigue and mystery of that era of British American history. Dewi’s stories were not only educational about also very entertaining. The memorable day with Dewi flew by! A wonderful experience!
Dewi was amazing! Incredibly knowledgeable, witty, and entertaining. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Bletchley Park. We would hire Dewi again in a heartbeat!
We had an excellent tour of Bletchley Park with Dewi. He is clearly passionate about the site and its history, and is knowledgeable, imparting to our family numerous tidbits, trivia, anecdotes, and other details; indeed, I noticed other visitors attempting to listen in to portions of our tour! He made the entire site come to life, and we are glad that we booked with him, and recommend him to others.
