Old Town Valencia - Express Walking Tour in Spain

This tour is a great choice if you have a busy day planned but still want to acquire a deep knowledge of the old town's gems and enjoy a light and easy guided experience. It is recommended especially if you want to have some free time in city centre or explore a market there afterwards.

We will walk across the oldest area in town and stop in the most iconic and picturesque spots. History can be understood easily as we walk from the Roman Empire era to the 20th Century in no time!

Valencia's old quarters are very compact. We will stroll for a couple of hours along flat ground in a small area with very restricted traffic, where there are so many beautiful buildings and history to go through! One of them, The Silk exchange, is a UNESCO Heritage since 1996 and one of Valencia's Gothic jewels.

The Valencian centre has been one of my favourite areas to be around since I was small, so I'm genuinely excited to show you around it.

Holy Grail & UNESCO World Heritage Site Visit - Walking Tour in Valencia

If you want to visit Valencia's main attractions from the inside, this tour is for you!

We'll visit the church of San Nicolás de Bari & San Pedro Mártir, a true hidden gem in the historic Carmen neighbourhood, with its approximately 2000 m2 of frescoes. Precisely because of these magnificent frescoes it is also called the Valencian Sistine Chapel, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On our tour, we'll visit the only building in the city to be included in UNESCO's list, being one of the most important buildings in the Valencian golden age: La Lonja de la Seda, a place where merchants carried out negotiations relating to their goods, especially silk.

In addition to this, we'll visit the wonderful Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a mix of architectural styles that reflect its long construction and numerous changes it has undergone.

Did you know that what is believed to be the Holy Grail is kept in the Cathedral? Yes, that's right, and I'll show it to you, unveiling its history.

Old Valencia's City Centre - Private Walking Tour in Spain

During our tour, we will get a real good look at the city centre of Valencia. You'll have the chance to see inside the Valencian Cathedral to see the incredible secrets it holds, such as the Holy Grail!

We'll also be able to enter the Silk Exchange building, a UNESCO Heritage since 1996 and one of Valencia's Gothic jewels. This building, also called "La Lonja", has some interesting and disturbing decor, from the facade gargoyles to the details on its inside, it's surely not to be missed.

The great American writer Ernest Hemingway visited Valencia many times over many years, and we can use his trips as a lens through which to discover the history of the city as well as a brief overview of the life and writings of Hemingway, notably during the Spanish Civil War. En route we can also discover details about other writers, locals and visitor's alike, who have left their indelible stamp on Valencia's story.

An ancient Roman city, torn apart by the Roman empire and threatened by Christian martyrs. Later conquered by Moors and Islam before being reconquered by a Christian King. At one time besieged by Napoleon's troops. And key to the story of this fine city is the Spanish Civil War, including the swing from Monarchy, to Republic, to Dictatorship. During the Spanish Civil War people travelled from all over the world to defend democracy, including Ernest Hemingway and George Orwell.

Valencia at War: Walking Tour

Beautfiul coastal Peñiscola, 2 hours north of Valencia city in the province of Castllon, lies on a cliff-top overlooking the Mediterranean with breath-taking views below.

Site of where many scenes from the Games of Thrones was filmed, you can see the idyllic paradise that was once the medieval home of the Avingnon Pope, the Papa Luna and we will visit his palace from the 12th century.

This unique spot is just a short drive north of the city and we will chat about life in Spain, its history, politics and culture, while getting to see the beautiful coastline, passing through the many orange groves.
