Welcome to Madrid!! I was born in Madrid a few years ago, and although I am not a "cat", I have lived most of my life here. I studied Architecture at the ETSAM of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, after years of filling the family home with my first models built with TENTE-LEGO bricks and drawings of utopian cities or television sets. In 2006 I moved to the city center, Lavapiés, where I live, so I can tell you first-hand the most recent history, including the effects of gentrification, two economic crises, and a pandemic, with its impact on architecture, the city, and the lives of those of us who live in. In 2002, I started working as an architect, carrying out very diverse projects in Madrid and other cities, in different architecture and engineering firms. Since 2021, I have combined my work as an independent architect with that of a professor of interior design for hotels for the Udima-Insenia master's degree. As you can see, I like to transmit my passion for all that I have been learning throughout my life. I love to travel and I love visiting cities and buildings that I have admired and studied before. I enjoy when they are explained by fellow architects from other countries who provide the historical and sociological context, enriching the experience and making those moments of exchange together unforgettable. I also like politics and its connections with architecture in each historical moment. I started working as a guide in 2018 to fill that gap in Madrid for all those who are into architecture, urbanism, history, interior design, art or design, by vocation, profession, or mere hobby. I have managed to turn the share of my passion for Madrid, its architecture and history, into my job. Architect | Universidad Politécnica de Madrid | ETSAM | 2005 Professor of interior design for hotels for the Udima-Insenia master's degree I am not a licensed guide and will not be able to guide you inside of the Royal Palace. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

I propose that you learn more about the neighborhood of Lavapiés and bordering areas from the urbanistic, historical and architectonic point of view. You will learn the history of theaters such as Figaro, Calderon or Pavón, cinemas such as Ideal, and cafés, markets, restaurants, museums or residential buildings in the authentic heart of Madrid. The magazine Time Out has choosen my neighbourhood as "the coolest in the world in 2019". A mixture of local life, traditions, multiculturalism and gentrification in a moment of transformation. Works of architects such as Linazasoro, Muguruza or Jean Nouvel, or street artists such as Boa Mistura or Okudart will be on our tour together.
On tour we will see: - Small hidden gems such as the Municipal Print Works, a magnificent rationalist industrial building from 1930 or the latest place in the area to have a drink like Sala Equis, the last porn cinema in Madrid. - A prison of the Inqusition, hidden on the basement of an old "corrala" in the heart of Lavapies St. - Cascorro Sq. and the history of how the street market called Rastro began, combining antique and vintage furniture. (Rastro only on Sunday morning). - From there to the Tabacalera, the next venue of Reina Sofia Contemporary Art Museum, which will remind you of some industrial buildings in other cities such as Berlin and where you can see some of the best works of street art on its walls. - I will show you the spectacular renovation of the Pías Schools of San Fernando, transformed into a library, according to Linazasoro's project, next to one of the most popular corralas. - We will end our walk together at a local market where you can have a vermouth with tapas.
