I'll start us out with a historical introduction to both Spain's and Madrid's history, in the unofficial city center of Madrid (Puerta del Sol) where hundreds of locals and tourists pass by every day. I'll tell you about major events that took place here such as the bullfights and Autos da Fé (inquisition trials). As well as a popular market that offers tapas, and we'll talk about the influence of the Jewish people in Spanish food. We'll pass over the Sepharadic Center and talk about the current jewish community in Madrid and Spain. Then we go to see the walls of Madrid, where was located the old Jewish area before the inquisition days. Here we will talk about the past of the Jewish community and how and why the Inquisition started. We'll also enjoy one of the greatest views of Madrid and its surroundings. Further in our tour, we'll marvel at the beautiful Royal Palace, the biggest of its kind in Europe, as well as at Madrid's Opera House. The following itinerary could be customized upon request.
-We'll start at Plaza de Callao, where we'll start with an historic introduction to Spain and it's Jewish heritage. -Next is Puerta del Sol, the main square in Madrid. -Then we'll arrive at Plaza Mayor, the historic square where the trials of the Inquisition happened. -Next, we'll pass over Plaza de Puerta Cerrada to learn about Madrid's beginnings. -We'll continue towards the oldest restaurant in the world, Sobrino de Botín. -We'll then learn about tapas in the famous San Miguel Market. -Plaza de la Villa is our next stop where we'll see the oldest buildings in town. -We'll pass to the Sepharadic Center of Madrid. -We'll go to the walls of Madrid, its oldest construction. And location of the old Jewish neighbourhood in Madrid. -Next, we'll see the famous Almudena Cathedral. -Then we'll see the Royal Palace of Madrid, the biggest one in Europe. -The last stop will be in Plaza de Oriente, with more views of the Royal Palace & the Teatro Real (Royal Theater).
