¡Hola! I'm a 38 year old Belgian historian living in Madrid. I came here for love and on top of that I ended up adoring my new city. I am a very social person so I wanted to share my love for the city with other people. I like cultural activities as going to the movies, theatre and visiting museums, I practice a lot of sports (I love snowboarding, surfing, cycling and triathlon) and I have a passion for languages, books and music. After my Master Studies in History, I started working in development work. I managed projects in Philippines, South Africa and Burundi. My first contact with the tourism business was when I decided to combine my passion for snowboarding with my passion for people. So I became a guide for tour operators in the French Alpes for two winter seasons. Later, I also lived in Istanbul where I worked as a tour guide for a biking company. When I arrived in Madrid and I loved the city so much, I decided to continue my work as a city guide. I adore showing people around and telling stories about my precious hometown so much that my friends even call me Guide Madrid Caroline. I would also love to show you around this wonderful city. I can guide you to the best museums, historical buildings, parks, scenic points or nice places and streets. I assure you a unique and authentic experience off the beaten path and into the hidden treasures and secrets of the city. I can be flexible with your agenda and fulfill any specific interests you may have. Let me know your preferences and schedule and I will come up with an itinerary that suits your requirements and personal profile. With me, you and Madrid will fall in love at first sight! Looking forward to meet you soon, Caroline - Master's Degree in History - Official licensed guide - Bachelor Degree in Nursing - Emergency Medical Responder (10 years of experience as a lifeguard, firefighter and emergency nurse)

Passionate about literature? This is your tour! E. Heminway, or "Don Ernesto" for his Madrilenian friends, loved our Spanish capital. He visited us for the first time in 1923, then in the 30's during the Civil War and in the late 50's. On this tour we will follow the footsteps of the famous writer in the city. We'll visit the places where he stayed, where he wrote some of his important works and where he drank and ate. Madrid held a very warm spot in Hemingways' heart and he called it "the most Spanish of all cities". Many of the sceneries in his books and short stories are based on places in this city. Our tour leads away from the well-worn Madrid tourist trail to Hemingway's favourite corners, including classic beer halls, elegant 5-star hotel lounges, cave-like basement bars, and the oldest restaurant in the world. Most have barely changed since the author sat eating, drinking and writing within their walls. In 3 hours we'll make our way across Hemingway's Madrid.
We'll meet at your hotel or at a central location in the city, according to your preferences. I'll take you to the places where Hemingway stayed and worked on his stories as 'The sun also rises' and 'The fifth column'. On one of these places we'll have a panoramic view on the city from the 9th floor. We'll visit three of his most frequented bars and we'll have a drink at one of them. We also take the time to visit his favourite tablao (typical flamenco bar) in the city where he spend a lot of nights and to the oldest restaurant in the world where he devoured roast suckling pig. We will be hitting all the spots the man himself would have taken us to.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
During this tour we will be walking. If needed we could take taxis in between visiting spots upon request. These taxi fees are not included in the tour price.
