This experience not only shows the history and evolution of this architectural wonder but also compiles a professionally guided visit plus the unveiling of inspiring messages that makes this building a must-feel experience. We'll go beyond a simple tour, allowing you to understand the possibility of 3 faiths working together under one single State. As an official interpreter of the Mosque, I'll tell you how the building started in the 8th Century, to then grow and become the largest mosque on Earth. The impressive construction became that unique that it survived the Reconquista process, when Christians took Córdoba and the temple became a Catholic church. From the many Christian modifications (which are closer to being additions to the building rather than real changes) the most-impressive physical change was in its centre, as a way to turn the old mosque into a proper Catholic cathedral. However it still maintains the altarpiece of the Islam, the Mihrab, from where the vessel of God talks to the public.
Your Cordoba tour itinerary
·We'll first cover the transformation of the old patio for the islamic ablutions that became what we see today, an open space full with pretty orange trees. ·Once inside the mosque, we'll discover the continuous enlargements able to make the temple to grow as the Al-Ándalus empire did, the only European Caliphate that ever existed. ·We'll be able to detect the different recycled columns within the limits of the very first mosque area, from where the building starts to grow. ·We'll approach the fabulous Mihrab, the masterpiece of the hispano-muslim art, with its holy Muslim message. ·We'll have the change to see the transformation of different spaces into Christian burial chapels, the crafting of Catholic altarpieces and we'll get inside of the most important chapels open to the public (when they are). One of them exposes the Monstrance. ·In a regular basis (depending on the services taking place) we'll be able to finish the tour inside of the monument for you to enjoy, take pics and discover much more.
