Hi there. I'm Barry, a Scotsman who has made Andalucia his home and I would be delighted to be your private guide and offer you a private tour so that you can see what the beautiful city and province of Cordoba have to offer discerning travellers like yourself. I came to Andalucia in 2002 and settled here in the City of Cordoba and I am very, very passionate about my adopted home; the people, the culture, the history and the natural beauty all combine to make this land a little piece of heaven on earth. When I first arrived in Andalucia, I was over-whelmed by its 'WOW' factor and no where more so than in Cordoba with its 1200 year old Mezquita, Christian Alcazar, Jewish Quarter and Synagogue and so much more, and it is exactly this 'WOW' factor that I would like to share with you. When you tour with me, you will not only get a Tour with a Local, (which is what I am proud to say that I have become), you will also get a a tour with a native English speaker who came here looking to discover Andalucia in the very same way that you are doing right now. Also, as a seasoned traveller myself, I have very high expectations of what I require from a tour and the guide and it is exactly those high levels of service that I will give to you during your tour with me in Cordoba. Cordoba is such a wonderful city that it inspired me to set up my own Tour business here and I have been providing private, tailor made tours to clients in Andalucia for 5 years now. You will find me to be a very easy going person who has a passion for history in general and for the history of Andalucia in particular. I am very happy to say that the vast majority of my clients end up becoming friends and keep in touch with me after they return to their own countries and for me that really is the most gratifying outcome of providing my tours. So please let me introduce you to the city of Cordoba in the first instance and hopefully you may even have time to get to know my Spanish family and friends whilst you are here. As well as my listed tours I will be delighted to provide you with any tailor made tours that you may have in mind. . . . . . maybe you could even take time out to stay with us at our family villa in Puente Genil and discover more of what the province of Cordoba has to offer. One thing that is for sure is that you will fall in love with Cordoba and Andalucia and I would be delighted to become part of your Andalucian experience. I look forward to seeing you soon! Hasta pronto. Barry. Whilst I cannot have an official guide licence here in Andalucia I CAN give guided tours. I am also a professional man, a qualified accountant, and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and as my training and experience mean that I not only know how to treat people on a one-to-one basis, I also know how to impart information so that clients not only understand it but actually enjoy hearing it. Overview of your Cordoba tour

CORDOBA - a remarkable city on the banks of the Guadalquivir river which is steeped in history, romance and intrigue. The Romans were here and the Visigoths, before the city was captured by Muslim forces in the year 712 AD and later became the capital of the Muslim empire in Europe in the year 750 AD. Cordoba was a city of enlightenment during the dark ages when Christian, Muslim, and Jewish populations lived in relative peace for over 300 years. It was finally re-conquered by the Christian king, Fernando III in 1236 and its 'Christian Alcazar' was completed during the reign of King Alfonso XI 90 years later in 1326. The most famous building in Cordoba has to be 'The Mezquita', the 500-year-old Catholic Cathedral built inside a 1200-year-old Mosque, which is quite rightly a World Heritage site of great acclaim. On this Tour, we will take half a day to stroll leisurely through the historic streets of Cordoba and you will have time to enter and enjoy all of its most important buildings and monuments.

Your Cordoba tour itinerary

ITINERARY. 1. We will start in the 'barrio' of San Basilio and visit a beautiful example of 'The Patios' that Cordoba is famous for. 2. Next we will visit the 16th century Royal Stables, built by Philip II and which are now an equestrian centre housing the famous dancing horses of Andalucia. 3. You will then visit the Alcazar of the Christian Kings, a royal palace and gardens built in the 15th century and one of the sites where Christopher Columbus presented his plans to King Ferdinad and Queen Isabella. 4. Next we will visit the old Jewish Quarter of Cordoba and visit the 14th Century Synagogue, 1 of only 3 medieval synagogues still standing in Spain. 5. We will then walk to the Roman Bridge and you can take photos of The Mezquita before we then take a walk around the outside of the Mezquita itself, discussing its history and some of its amazing architecture. 7. We will then finish our Tour in the 'Lane of the Flowers', where you can take the photo that captures the essence of Cordoba perfectly.
