Hello¡¡ My name is Maria and I was born in this wonderfull city , Córdoba This is a very historical city, stablished by Romans in the 2nd century B. C. Nearby the Guadalquivir River and Sierra Morena . For more than 500 years, Cordoba was under the muslim rules, and became the capital of the Muslim Peninsula or Hispania. It was one of the most important cities in the world. From that time left the Mosque Cathedral , world heritage by UNESCO. An amazing city, also wellknown all over the world due of its Patios ( Courtyards), and the Patios Festival in may. This Patios are small paradises in the houses. About me: I am a graduate in Tourism and my working life since 1993 has been always in tourism. My first job was Congress Hostess, and I worked at the Cordoba Tourist Information. In 1996 I began to work as an Interpreter Tourist Guide, 24 years meeting people from all over the world. Many years of guiding, many experiences, and always, enjoying my work. I am Active, reliable, hardworking and always very positive about life and my job as guide I like my job, I like what I do. The purpose of my guided visits is that you enjoy and get to know with me the city where I was born. A perfect complement to the visit of the Mosque is the archaeological site of Madinat al-Zahra and the Interpretation Center, located 10 km from the city. Visiting with me this place, you will discover the history of it and of course a private visit allows to enjoy much better the archaeological site. I have been guiding this place for more than 25 years, do not miss the opportunity to know it. The City Palatine built by Abderrahman III, first Caliph of Qurtuba and center of his power, the Dar Al Mulk. 110 hectares of which only 10% have been excavated. It was built in only 20 yeas, and was not only the Caliph's house, but also the goverment place. The remains left were used centuries later to build other buildings, as a Monastery near by Medina Azahara. In XIX the remains of the city were discovered and now we have the chance to visit them and the Interpretation Center

Maria is an incredible guide! Her warmth and expertise drew our whole family in, adults and kids alike. Madinat al-Zahra is a beautiful site and Maria’s explanations brought it alive for us. She pointed out small details in the ruins and landscape we never would have noticed and tied them to broader historical and social trends. We got so much more out of our visit than we ever could have otherwise. We paired this tour with Maria’s tour of the Mosque Cathedral/Jewish Quarter and she helped coordinate the sequence for an unforgettable day in Cordoba.
We had Maria for the entire half day, starting with the trip to Madinat al Zahra and the visit to Mezquita. The day was one of the highlights of our 8-day trip in Spain. Maria was a terrific guide who oriented us thoroughly in the history of Cordoba. What we learned served as a great foundation for our later visits to Alhambra in Granada and Real Alcazar in Sevilla.
Our tour with Maria to Cordoba-Medina Azahara was fantastic. Maria is extremely knowledgeable and helped us understand and appreciate this rich history. She also is a lovely person and speaks English fluently. We highly recommend her and this particular site. Even though it is located outside of Cordoba, she arranged to have us picked up right in front of where we were staying.

Medina Azahara is 10km from Cordoba, so we need to go by car. The tour is divided in two parts: 1st Part: -We arrive to the Reception Center, -We take a shuttle in order to go to the Archaelogical site. -1:30 h walking. On spot I will explain to you everything about the history of it. 2nd Part: -Go back to the Reception center and we will watch a movie that reproduces how was Medina Azahara. -We visit the Museum, 8Thera are also WC, Gift Shop and a Snack Bar) . We spend there another 1. 5h -The tour takes 3h or 3, 5 h aprx, and I recommend to start early in the morning, by 9:30 am.
