In this tour you will discover the city built by the caliph Abd al-Rahman III starting between 936 and 940. After he had proclaimed himself caliph in 929, he decided to show his subjects and the world his power by building a palace-city 8 km from Córdoba. This important place was declared World Heritage Site by Unesco on 1st July 2018, so it is the last monument that received this title in the city. An excellent and informative tour by Azahara. Her detailed knowledge of the area was excellent and could answer all of our questions ranging from history, to architecture, to geotechnical questions. She is very friendly and made the entire experience a pleasure. After the tour she had excellent recommendations for food and things to do.

The archeolical site was impressive, but it was Azahara's command of the information and ability to communicate history and importance of what we were seeing that made this experience truly memorable.
