Hi! Welcome to my profile! I was born in the beautiful town of Amarante (the heart of the Green Wine region) and I am a inveterate traveler. I have been in more than 50 countries so far. I crossed the African continent overland, all the way down on a 4x4, from Morocco to South Africa and have made the longest train journey in the world! I jumped in on a train in Porto, crossed Europe, Siberia, Mongolia, China and arrived in Ho Chi Minh, in Vietnam, where the railway finished. But I did not stop there. I continued traveling through Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia! I have done volunteer work in Bamako, Mali, with street children, in Uganda, with HIV children, and in Mombasa, Kenya, in an orphanage. I'm the author of the book called "Africa nos Sentidos", where I write about the travel adventures and state about the ins and outs of volunteering! So, I'm someone passionate about people, cultures and gastronomy! And as I love the history, the food and the culture of my own country, being a tourist guide couldn't be more prefect! Therefore, with a relaxed, friendly and warmth attitude, I want to introduce to you the traditions, the landscape, the architectural and heritage diversity, gastronomy and wines, monuments, the history and the hospitality of our people. Discover Guimarães the cradle of the nation and Braga, an ancient Roman city!
Overview of your Porto tour
Two cities with an important role in the construction of the Portuguese identity, as a nation and religion. We start our historical introduction next to Guimarães Castle, symbol of the cradle of the Portuguese nation! Afterwards, we will visit the Chapel of S. Miguel and Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, where I will give a fully detailed history background. Passing next to the statue of our first king, we'll walk through the oldest and historic Santa Maria towards the beautiful medieval city center, Unesco Heritage. After a delicious traditional lunch with unique flavours, it is time to visit Braga. Braga has about 105 churches! It is the capital of the Baroque style and the oldest city in the country with more than 2000 years! We'll visit the Old Town, the Roman ruins, the baroque fountains and the amazing Cathedral de Braga - oldest in the country! Finally, we'll visit one of the most beautiful sanctuaries of the country: The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Braga and the impressive stairway.

This was a full day tour to Braga and Guimarães, north of Porto. The guide was superb - very personable, knowledgeable, and a great story teller. He explained why Guimarães why it is considered to be the birthplace of Portugal. The history of the castle was fascinating. We also visited the Palace of the Dukes. Braga is beautiful-the Garden of Santa Barbara and the cathedral are a must-see. The Bom Jesus do Monte is spectacular, and it is worth doing the 680 steps to see the fountains themed on the 5 senses.
