My name is André. I'm a historian, graduated in Oporto University and also a photographer. Porto, one of the most ancient European cities, stemming from the northern bank of the river during the Middle Ages. One of the most significant aspects of Porto and its historical centre is its surrounding landscape, the steep river banks providing a dramatic setting for the old town. Both the streets next to the river and the surrounding countryside have been classified as a World Heritage sites by UNESCO. Andre is the real deal! Extremely knowledgeable, very flexible and accommodating. He has a deep reservoir of the history of Porto and Portugal overall. He thoroughly explained local customs and pointed us to authentic cuisine while making every effort to see many of the beautiful and historic attractions. Highly recommend Andre for any individual or group, well worth it.
My husband and I had spent some time in Porto before this visit, but my granddaughter had not ever been there. We only had one day in Porto because we were on a cruise ship. We had a wonderful day on this tour, got all the highlights of this wonderful city as well as a few surprises for myself. highly recommended.
Andre was fantastic. We booked a tour for our wedding guests and we had 66 people. He made sure there is something for all age groups and showed us the gems of the city. Couldn't be happier with how the tour turned out. He also recommended a restaurant for us to take our family after the tour and ensured the tour ended where the restaurant is so that we don't have to navigate through the city on our own. Booked for a cruise stop where I wanted to efficiently photograph the city rather than a group tour. The itinerary should be read as "we can” vs. “we will” visit. Porto is compact but has a lot to see. Andre knows the city intimately, is creative in parking, and is flexible on where you want to go. Great history and architecture tips throughout. The major views were great, but his morning walk-thru of the alleys in the city was the best. Don't skip the train station or Andre's explanation of the tiles, and you may want to return later as it’s an active place for photos. Andre picked me up outside the cruise terminal making for a faster start, getting to know each other and a scenic drive to town. I opted to take a cruise bus back for my convenience and further wandering around. Great guide and conversationalist. Highly recommended!
