My name is João, a native son of Porto. I've been a certified Tourism Animator for the last 7 years, a Gentleman Rider for a few decades now and most importantly, in love with my city, her stories and importance in the World history. After a successfull, but not very fullfilling, career in management, I decided to create experiences that would allow me to work on and share my passions: my classic motorcycles, the love of my city, history and storytelling ( yes, I talk a bit!) That combination came together naturally to create my tour experiences that use the old neighborhoods, landmarks, viewpoints and facades to tell you the history and stories of Porto. ( It also allows me to start tours with guests and end with friends. ) My tours focus on: Porto history, local stories, local perspective, locals and their habits, landmarks, vistas; viewpoints, photography and wine tasting. After being a tourism guide for 7 years I realize that meeting new people and seeing them fall in love with Porto is what I really love to do. What to expect: - Explore Porto off-the-beaten-path as we travel from tasting to tasting with João your private guide. - João curated 4 local tasting experiences, from table wines and liqueurs to cocktails, all Not Port. - No monuments included but the occasional church to repent between drinks ( those can be replaced by more drinks ;) ). - Amazing moments, at a slow pace and loads of photos! - End with a Espumante toast in one of the many gorgeous viewpoints overlooking the city. Important: Guests are responsible for their behavior when consuming alcoholic beverages.
All we can say is FANTASTIC—we had so much fun with Joao!!! He has a great sense of humor, is very knowledgeable and flexible. It was such a great way to experience Porto. He took us to places frequented by locals away from the hoards of tourists—-a definite unique experience seeing the city from a vintage motorcycle with a sidecar. Highly recommend!!!!
AMAZING tour! My husband and I had so much fun riding around the city and tasting new drinks and foods. Each stuff had a little tasting option with it and everything was fabulous. We learned so much about the city on this tour and Joao was so informative and amazing! Must do in Porto.
We had a fun, funny, and fundamentally unique experience with Joao on his "Not Port wine!" Tour. Joao knows his city and its history inside out, and his own journey to running tours on an amazing soviet bike and sidecar is just as interesting. If you want to see all the sides and history of Porto, eat and drink some left-field local stuff, and laugh lots, just book Joao - amazing.
Joao took us on a fabulous tour of Porto! He is a wonderful host, guide, driver and we saw sites in the city we would have not seen on our own. The local spots and drinks and snack samplings were terrific. Riding on the motorcycle with the sidecar through the narrow streets was an experience in and of itself. The drink selection was varied and made for a wonderful experience throughout. Joao also got us a dinner reservation following the tour. We highly recommend Joao and this tour!

The rhythm will be slow-paced with lots of stops. This is a local experience with drinks and foods your guides enjoy in places where they meet their friends or grew up. And we prefer to keep them as a surprise ;) We’ll explore off-the-beaten-path away from the historical center to see other views of Porto. As we make our way to the Douro river and the ocean we will have our first tasting, a portuguese liqueur, and beautiful views! Now it’s time for a different Cocktail along with amazing photos as we seat by the river watching the boats go by. As we make our way slowly to cross the river, our next stop is an amazing tasting of a fresh table wine paired wonderfully with local savory “petiscos” ( small bites). Included more amazing photos! Continuing on the other side of the river Douro and make our way to the best views of Porto. With a small explanation, your private guide, will serve you a Espumante, while you take your time to enjoy the beautiful views!
