Beautiful day trip from Porto with a local guide
Overview of your Porto tour
Minho is the northwest region of Portugal, famous for its hills and valleys, and of course the unique "Vinho Verde". Let's start the day visiting Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal. The city kept its medieval core and it's a UNESCO Heritage site. We will also appreciate the iconic Guimares Castle, home of the first King of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. Standing next to the castle is the monumental Ducal Palace, ancient home of the House of Bragança. We will continue discovering the heart of the medieval town, zigzagging through the narrow streets, and its charming little squares and continue towards Braga. Founded by the roman emperor Augustus in 16 BC. You will have time stroll through the historic center and visit the oldest cathedral in Portugal. On the way back to Porto, we'll have an opportunity to say goodbye to the Minho region from the Bom Jesus Sanctuary. Situated on a hilltop, famous for its baroque ambiance.
